Rash/bumps around mouth

Maybe health, but I thought I'd ask here.

DS, 22mo, has had a rash around his mouth for months. We, including daycare, chalk this up to him being a drool-machine. Sometimes it's just faint redness, sometimes full-on white-head pimply looking. I've tried most over the counter, and various tea-tree, with the idea that he'd eat it, so not as much as I'd put on myself. Nothing seems to be helping.

I took him to the Ped and he put him on cephlex in case it's bacterial. But he's almost done with the regimen and it's not making a difference.

The kid drools like mad. he does use a pacifier but only in the car and going down at night - doesn't sleep with it. And doesn't have one at daycare. So while it makes sense to remove the pacifier, I don't think that's the ONLY cause.

There are times it moves up to his eyes; others it's apparently on his upper arms (both places not just drool...yk?)

It doesn't seem to bother him. He loves putting the cream on, which makes me think it feels good to have creams. but he never scratches it.

Other ideas for getting rid of it?

This sounds like the perioral dermatitis that my son had.  It was very persistent and also seemed to come and go in severity.  I guess that doesn't necessarily explain why your son seems to have it on his arms though....

But nothing that was prescribed worked.  I ended up trying California Baby calendula cream and it worked amazingly well.  I can't recommend it enough!  It's expensive but the tub lasts a while.  I used the thick cream, not the lotion.  Maybe something to try?  I think it went away within a week of regular use.  I hope this may help you!

I find my guy's mouth rash/acne is due to where he's at teething. When he's cutting teeth (which seems constant but we're on our last one, whoo-hoo) it shows up and last for months. The only thing I've found that helps is being good about his Vit D drops but I never tried calendula cream.

my DS had that and it was a reaction to pasturized milk.  We went raw and within a week it was gone.  Calendula cream is amazing!

Calendula cream sounds like a great option - possibly the only thing I haven't tried yet! Thanks for the advice. It seems odd that his ped didn't have any ideas and the antibiotic didn't do a darn thing.

Other oddity, we went to a friend's above-ground pool (so overly chemically because there isn't a great pump system), and it got So Much better. Maybe because the chlorine dried it out a bit?
