Queer Conceptions--August 2011 - Page 3

Thread Starter
Whew! Looks like I got a busy month! I hope it keeps on coming—you all are so fun to talk to!

Handerson—a sperm vacation might be fun! Does he live someplace nice, at least? Also, it shouldn’t make any difference if she’s had sex with guys before, so don’t worry!

Want2Be—I’m sorry about the BFN. I agree with Krista--#6 was a hard one for some reason. Not sure if I’d let the CMV thing deter me, to tell the truth. I found out that I tested positive for it, so I didn’t need to worry after all, but I think I would have probably just gone ahead anyway, because I’m reckless like that.

Krista—I can’t even imagine doing a triathlon. Have you done many before? I’m glad you’re managing not to think about things too much—a real, good break that you’re enjoying sounds like just the thing to recharge your batteries.

MidwifeSteph—glad things are looking good for this cycle. Can I ask what a naturopath actually DOES when she touches you? My mom sees one and tried explaining it to me once but it didn’t make any sense (she’s not the best explainer).

MrsPP—no, it was perfect timing! We had just headed out the door to the dr. Actually I thought you had texted again and saw that it was from Raynebough, so you both must have been trying to restrain yourselves! Funny that you ran into Jenn—it must have been a nice surprise! I keep waiting to randomly see people around but so far it hasn’t happened yet…

Ad Astra—the second half is always WAY worse than the first!

Nos Reves—Ugh. Hopefully you’ll get a competent tech this time!

Selsevin—glad you found some options! Two isn’t a lot, but at least you have a choice!

Gelly—good to hear from you! I was hoping that everything was coming along just swimmingly—Friday is so soon!!

AFM—well, it turns out that awful stomach cramps and bad headaches and falling asleep on the couch at 7pm are, in fact, all good signs. That, and threadkeeper’s luck does sometimes come through! I got the good news about my BFP (!!!) this afternoon just in time to get some flowers and a children’s picture book to surprise DP with before we went in to see the RE! She cried a little and then we went in to find out what’s next—bloodwork on thurs and Monday to check that the betas are rising (first one was 125 or so) and an ultrasound next Friday. If everything goes well I’ll ‘graduate’ from the RE practice to an OB around the end of the month! We’re trying to be as happy and hopeful and optimistic as possible—it’s one of those situations where I feel like I know too much. But we’re hoping for a sticky bean, and a healthy baby sometime in April. Now I just need some of you to join me in the veggie parade!

Holy crap I'm so excited for you guys :)  I even made DW come over so I could show her all the veggie parades.  She thinks we are all quirky and kind of weird, but also very cute and sweet.  That's good, I told her, since she's kinda stuck with me and therefore stuck with all of you!

Ad Astra, we are TWW buddies... but we are only 2DPO (but at the end of the day!  Almost 3 DPO!).  Tonight's TWW Countdown Conversation is "Favorite Boys' Names".  And we are sitting here together, enjoying Moon Goddess tea from Sunflower Market.

Krista, just out of curiosity, what is the procedure to "fix" your uterus?  Will the surgery decrease the size of your uterus, or does it just ... restructure it?  As if surgery doesn't suck enough, you have to fight the system, too.  Geez.

Jenny, our nephew is ten years old now.  My wife's sister has a rare genetic blood clotting disorder that wasn't discovered until several years after Erik was born.  She ended up losing her first pregnancy at 6 months gestation and was told not get pregnant for five more years, they didn't realize that she had a disorder or anything... but ended up pregnant again within the year.  That time around, she was immediately put on bloodthinners and bedrest but still got several blood clots that were resistant to the bloodthinners.  Her blood pressure dropped, then skyrocketed and then her liver/kidney function shut down.  They tried to induce labor, but the cord was wrapped around my nephew's neck and ended up with emergency C-section.  My nephew was born at 26 weeks, to prevent my sister-in-law from dying.  His development was normal, but he was just born too early.  He developed a brain bleed, which caused the cerebral palsy.  He's confined to a wheelchair and has very limited mobility and speech.  DW's sister still is on meds to control the disorder, and she eats a strict vegan diet to help with it as well.  She has to wear compression tights still and be very careful.  Just last summer she had a blood clot that went from her knee to her belly button - not an exaggeration.  Anyway.  They are doing as well as can be, and we are all so thankful to have her and Erik in our lives.

Anywho.  "See" you all tomorrow!

Guess who's BAAAAACK?!?!?!? peace.gif Hello Ladies!!! Here we are back on the TTC Rollercoaster that we all Love to Hate! It is great & yet sad to see some familiar faces on the boards! I will have to go lurk over in Q&P to see some of those who have graduated (I kinda miss seeing them on the thread it gave me hope for the future :-)) Anywho we just couldn't stay away! For all of those who don't know me I am SwtRainbowBrite, my DP & I have been trying off and on to get pregnant for about a year now. We had our last attempt in February which ended up being a BFN, but coincidentally we got engaged a few days before we found out the verdict so we just decided to focus our efforts on the Wedding (February 2012). Well after 5 months out of the TTC game we are starting to get antsy and we decided what the heck if I have a belly at the Wedding oh well what is the sense in waiting? So we are officially 40 days (give or take) from Insemination/"O" Day!!!! jumpers.gif During our hiatus we have been searching for a Bank and donor that fit our expectations & hopes.... as some of you remember we had an awful nightmare with a KD and after speaking with legal counsel extensively we have decided that it would be very un-wise of us to go with a KD. Luckily in the state of Washington with the proper legal paperwork, sperm from a bank, and a judge my DP's name will be on the Birth Certificate from the Hospital (or in our case our downstairs living room which will become our Birth Center LOL) and she will have all parental rights from the time pregnancy is confirmed!! thumb.gif

We have been working with an RE doing testing and preparing my body to insem. she has a suspicion that I may have PCOS (I have already done the ultrasound and I have the "string of pearls") we just need to do the HSG and a few other tests, and then start Clomid nut.gif  We were all geared up and ready to go for an October insem date when we learned that our donor's supply was super low, by the time we got registered with the bank and did all the paperwork all of his IUI supply was gone and he had 1 ICI vial available. The RE office was less than thrilled about the ICI vial because when they wash the sperm the lose numbers so they would prefer to work with IUI vials and we understand that so we decided today that we are going to try 1 more time unassisted with our loving midwife! If we don't succeed then we will just continue in October with the RE because our donor (mr popular) will be out of quarantine YAY!

I am nervous about getting back on the TTC Rollercoaster but super excited about the journey especially because I know that one day the result of all this hard work will be a beautiful baby. DP & I have both been having baby dreams lately so that is great! DP even had a dream that a little girl was talking to her about her sister she never got to meet which would be my daughter who passed away almost 5 years ago, it was so sweet it brought tears to my eyes! If any of you ladies have any tips or suggestions lay em on me! I think I am going to chart but I am unsure if I want to get into the obsession again, plus after next month I won't need to chart because we will be doing ultrasound monitoring and trigger shots so who knows.

Anyways, I can ramble on for days (I have just missed this board SO much!) Hopefully I can get back into the pattern of doing personals again soon! Look forward to meeting everyone that I haven't met yet!

BabyDust dust.gifto all that need it....hug2.gif to all that hurting.... and namaste.gif and many blessings to us all!

I am so happy for you guys, Isa!!!!!  jumpers.gif PP told me about the book symbol at the park and I was just baffled.  I probably would have been at the store buying tests by the handful!  If you local ladies would like to plan a little celebration gathering (aka an excuse to hang out with like minded folks) in the next week and a half I would really be into that.

Gelly- That sounds like that was some intense stuff and I hope this round goes smoothly for you all.  Come on IVF!

PP- I really needed that today!  I'm so glad that stars and playtimes aligned.

I'm so appreciative of all the support on here!  I'd like to write personal responses but I'd need a notepad to keep track of everything...  I will be moving to Denver on the 14th.  I have a KD so I want to try once before I move.  I'll be starting DIY insems Thursday night!  If it doesn't work then I will have to figure out how to ship it, either cold or frozen, and that will include having to fill up my savings account again.  I'm of course hoping this try will work, even if it means puking on the plane ride!  I've gained some weight (good thing) so I'm hopeful that my body is digesting well and is ready to house a baby.  I'm sure there was more I wanted to say but my body is telling me to sleep now.  Goodnight and good luck to everyone!

Congrats ISA!!!! That is fab! I'll be crossing my fingers for climbing betas. (Stick little one!)

Wow, I got so behind on the thread so fast! The thread is so much more active than I'm used to. I'll have to check back more often.

Not much to report on my 2ww. I'm about 9-10dpo with a few more days to go before I can reliably test. I always get sore boobs post-O but I think they may be somewhat worse this time. I keep wanting to nap at about 3pm but I don't know if that is the summer heat or a possible symptom. Mostly it is a lack of PMS symptoms that has me getting a tiny bit hopeful. I usually start getting a couple waves of cramps by now. I've been fooled so many times before so I try not to think about it.

Good luck to everyone! Hopefully a lot more of us will join Prettyisa on the parade of dancing veg!

Hello everyone.. My love finally started her monthly so yay! lol I was kind of thinking we should wait until next month to try and do the insem but she really wants to try this month so we will.. Im just going to be doing alot of tracking once her monthly ends.

Kgulbransen- She hasnt been tested for that. She kind of is in denial that anything is wrong with her.. Soooo all we can do is try and i told her if nothing after like the 3rd try then we are taking her to the DR lol... Also my girl is not really butch. shes like in the middle lol. She has short hair and doesnt wear makeup or nothing but wears girly clothes pretty much lol... Shes perfect :) well for me hehe

PrettyIsa - The donor does live in a pretty town and its like 6-7 hrs away I think.. Yeah if after the 2 cycle doesnt take the 3rd we will be taking a trip :) and thank you for tellign me how you feel about her shouldnt having a problem getting preggo if shes never had sex with a male before... Oh and Congrats!!  Im excited for you!!

I have been reading sooo much and researching alot. With using shipped sperm its already tricky so we shall see if it takes for us or not. Like i said we are going to try to use shipped sperm for 2 months and if that hasnt taken then will go take a trip to the donor to have a few days of fresh sperm.. Just have to take it day by day and month by month to see how it goes...

FINGERS CROSSED...
