Funny responses to co-sleeping prejudice?

So, I co-sleep with my babies for the first year of my kids' lives and we have a co-sleeper. Well, a lady at church got wind of it and felt she needed to "warn me" of the dangers, and lack of encouraging "independence" to sleep, etc, and I just looked at her dead pan and said "Don't worry- when he's in college, we'll totally kick him out of our room" eyesroll.gif

She just stood there with her jaw dropped. I can't help but wonder if she's still thinking about it. Some people, right?

So have you ever had to defend your lifestyle to people? If so, have you ever said something outlandish or ridiculous to get them to stop? I've also responded withfacts, but it's just not as fun sometimes wink1.gif

Well, my kids are older now but whenever people used to tell me I was lucky my babies didn't die in my bed, I couldn't help but think "No, you're lucky your kids didn't die of crib death!"

I haven't really had to defend cosleeping, but I accidentally posted something on FB about not having a crib, and I received tons of responses from people trying to give me their recalled drop-side cribs. Many involved the phrase "better than nothing". Cause I totally want their old, unsafe crib. Clearly that was what I was going for.

Both my husband and I have had to defend me solo co-sleeping (just recently transitioned our youngest a few months ago) -as well as defend the fact that he slept in the spare room for the year(s) I slept with my two daughters after they were born until they were about 18 months or so. Often we would just say something to the effect of "...oh don't worry, we change sleeping arrangements every few months so no one feels left out!" ;)
