Here we go!  Another week into August.  I'm still so excited to see more babies being born and mamas being made.  How is everyone doing?  Plans for the week, if any?

Here's the old chat thread.

My plans for the week are to have a baby!  I hope this little babe is accommodating of that lol.gif   It seems very likely as I am now 40w5d.  I just told DP last night that we can pretty much plan that we will have a baby in the next 1.5 weeks!

I had an appointment with my MW and requested she check my cervix and do a sweep if possible--she only does them if you request it.  I was about  2cm dilated and super soft.  She did a bit of a sweep and also said that the baby's head is right there!  Yay.

So my plan for this week is to have a baby and then write up my birth story to share with everyone!!

And share pictures!!!  Don't forget the pictures!!

I had a little breakdown and called my midwife yesterday.  I'm so far from the finish line at this point.  If I go overdue it means 4+ weeks of this.  NO THANK YOU.  Obviously there's nothing she can do, but I guess I just wanted to confirm that the bowling ball feeling in my pelvis is in fact the baby dropping, and not a UTI.  It is the baby dropping, but she was careful to mention that it could still be weeks.  Yes, thanks, I know.  Sigh.

My list of things for the birth is complete at this point, more or less.  I still need a tarp (how do we not have a tarp!?), and an extra king sized fitted sheet.  But that's it.  Everything else is on its way.  So that's good.

I have high hopes for this week!  I had a nice dream last night that I had the baby after only one and a half hours of labor, LOL.

Hello ladies! Yesterday I learned that my GBS test came back negative, and unfortunately, I also learned that I have very low iron. I hemorrhaged when DS was born, so I'm working very, very hard to get my iron to a safer level. I'd been buying cheaper iron pills in the raw form ($15 a bottle instead of $25 for Floradix), but I decided to invest in Floradix, to add an extra dose and to double the doses. So one bottle of Floradix will last me 4 days, but DH told me not to consider the cost, that we'll pay what we have to. Besides, once my levels are up, I won't have to take so much of it and one bottle will last 2 weeks. He is very concerned, but he's been riding my a$$ about my iron, anyway. When I got my results back, and asked DH to up pick some much needed iron raising items, it was the only time he didn't grumble about having to go to the store, even though we were having a friend over and he knew it would be a busy evening.

I was bummed, though, because the hemogram results kind of dulled the negative GBS results. But I am very happy to have tested negative for GBS. Also, my friend came over last night and she, DH and I assembled my birthing necklace. I'm in love with it! There are a couple pics in the bead thread. luxlove.gif

Carrie, my plans for the week are to continue nesting and to raise my hemoglobin & hematocrit. I'm trying to nest and rest at this point, so I'm trying not to make many outside plans. My plans all changed in one day. I had planned to have a baby SOON, but since learning of my hemogram results, I'm determined to keep the baby in for as long as possible.

earth-mama, good luck on your plans of birthing this week! I can't wait to read your birth story. And, I mean this as sincerely as possible, I really hope my baby stays put as long as yours has.

Italiamom, congrats on the baby dropping and on your birth list being nearly complete.

Here's wishing for a week full of babes (except mine).

Wow. It's August! Not too much planned for the week. An ultrasound and meeting with our midwives on Wednesday... crossing my fingers that baby A will flip head down, but not holding my breath. I know she's in the same position she has been in. It must be comfortable. Other than that, just trying to enjoy this last week before the babies are born. (We have a scheduled c section on the 10th.) Maybe go for swims, pick cucumbers, make pickles, sleep if I can... Looking forward to seeing more baby pictures this week!!

I wish for you a very happy, stress-free week before your twins arrive. I'm very excited to see pics!

I'm so hoping to have a baby this week too!!  I thought it was going to happen yesterday because I was having serious cramping and contractions for about 8 hours straight.  Then of course everything stopped!!  I had a terrible nights sleep last night.  Just very restless and uncomfortable!  The baby feels like she's about to fall out of me, so I am so ready!!!  Today I plan to stay on my feet as much as possible.  I'm going to do laundry and just straighten up as the day goes on.  I'm hoping that helps a little!  I would love to get out and take a long walk, but it's just so darn hot outside I don't know if I can handle it!  Maybe tonight after dinner and my hubby is home I'll do it.  I think it's supposed to cool down some tonight.  I have my next appt. on Friday and I'm REALLY hoping I don't make it to that!!!  This was a great thread to start by the way!!

Thank you!! I hope I am able to relax and just enjoy this time. It's hard, when a c section is NOT at all what I wanted, but I am very excited to meet my babies.

I'm hoping to have a baby this week, but I'm not counting on it.  As usual my body is playing tricks on me.  I've had cramps since Sunday, but today they are much stronger and are just killing me.  I haven't had any more bloody show for two days, but my bowels are rather active, and I'm back to cleaning and nesting today.  When I sit down I have cramps + painful contractions, but when I'm up and moving it's only the cramps.  So, I'm trying to keep busy but not wear myself out!

Marc's family owned a cottage on a nearby lake when he was growing up.  They sold it the summer before we met, but his brother has rented the cottage next door for the week.  So if we make it to Saturday without a baby we will be spending the day there to celebrate Marc's grandmother's 93rd birthday.  Otherwise our week is just full of soccer games.  We had one last night and have one tonight, and then play-off games Wednesday and Thursday.  I don't know if I'll make it to any more games, though.  Sitting in the camping chair makes my contractions a lot stronger and it's getting harder to not scare everyone around me!  orngtongue.gif

I need more birth stories and baby pictures to keep me going, so get busy ladies!

So the good news for those of us that have seemingly FOREVER left is that the 13th is a full moon? lol!

I thought last night was "it" but was very nervous as I'm not 37 weeks till thursday. But I very much effaced between yesterday morning and last night. I'd be surprised to get to my due date.

I'm with you all who might still have weeks!  Since this is my first, my mws keep telling me to not expect him until September!

Yeah, sorry, I can't think like that yet.

So I did find a recipe for a good night's sleep.  Chiro, sex, and a beer.  I know some of you might not feel comfortable drinking, but my mw actually suggests the occasional glass of wine or beer to relax.  I still woke up some, but I had mroe restful sleep than I have had in weeks!  Add to that, Hubby was willing to to start sleeping on the couch, so I had the bed to myself!  I feel so much better today, which is good because I have a two hour shoot at 7 pm.

Other plans for this week are going and printing out some things, including my emergency birth plan and packing list for my birth bag.  Then tomorrow morning is court for this parking ticket fiasco (long story), then I see my mws at 1 pm.  I think she mentioned doing a vaginal exam.  If not, I might ask for one, but I dunno.  I don't think much is going on down there, at least as far as I could feel, and it might just bum me out.  Thursday I see my chiro, Friday I have a shoot in the morning, and then I am meeting a friend at the cloth diaper store.  I'll also be 38 weeks on Friday!!!

I hope we have a lot of babies born this week! It seems like everyone is getting everything ready and all the loose ends tied up so now we need those babies to come!

Poetry Lover I saw your necklace and it is gorgeous! I am waiting on my mom to give me my last 2 beads and I will finally be able to complete mine!

Greencarnation My EDD is a day after yours and I also can not think that I may go till September. I am ready NOW!!

I also am looking forward to seeing many more baby pictures and reading your ladies beautiful birth stories. Maybe the full moon will bring on labor for all winky.gif

I found out this week that my midwife group is leaving the hospital I have been going to the first of September. So that basically means I have a few choices if I go over. They never planned on an induction until I hit 42 weeks but now plans may change. My EDD is the 21st and I can do one of three things if I have still not went into labor by the 28th. I can have them start inducing me so I can have the baby before they no longer have privlages at the hospital, I can say no to induction and have my backup OB deliver me, which I have never met and I really am NOT wanting to go that route. Or I can say no to induction and hope they will have rights to deliver at the new hospital by the time labor starts on its own. But the new hospital does not have any water birthing tubs plus I will lose my doula because we chose one through the hospital we are currently going to. I love her and I really want her at our birth! I am just going to try not to stress and hopefully I will just go into labor on my own. I have started EPO, i've been trying to walk a lot, and up the amount of sex. I really hope this little guy isn't stubborn and comes sooner than later. I just found out there was a good possibility I could have my water birth and now this happens.. Just going to keep positive thoughts and hopefully the full moon will cause something to happen for me too!

There was some rescheduling so today I'm getting pampered by my doula and my belly cast, not yesterday. So that's awesome.

And I'm slowly making this house look good. I just see the pretty parts, Dusty sees the piles of things - but it's not like I can do anything about most of those :P No real crazy nesting here, but things are slowly looking nicer and I'm staying on top of dishes and laundry :)

Of all the mamas on here waiting to go into labor I've got my hopes up for you, even though I'd like the company at the end of the month. I sure hope you find some means of relief.

This week I had my home visit (although we're planning a birth center birth) and then DD and I are going to the beach overnight with my mother. I've been doing lots of nesting stuff and the house is looking quite good, but there are still a few areas that are terrible. The other problem is we still need to get a new mattress. DF came into this relationship with a memory foam and I came into it with a pillow top, and obviously neither are recommended for cosleeping. That, and I'd really like to get a king because DF is a bed hog (and 6'4", so I guess he has a reason to be). I've been looking on craigslist and I can't find anything! They're all pillowtops, it seems like. We're also on a tighter budget than we had anticipated, so while we had thought about making it an investment, that isn't going to happen right now.

So who else is checking the toilet every time they pee for the mucus plug or bloody show? I'm not even close to my due date! I need to keep chanting that to myself.

This week I'm just staying home with DS as DH is away on a business trip to Connecticut and the car is parked at the airport.

I'm only just 36 weeks today, but I'm already getting a little impatient. The prodromal laboring started at 36 weeks last time, so I know that if I do start contracting this week its probably not even going to mean anything.

Otherwise I'm just trying to find alternatives to dairy to keep up my protein while increasing my iron absorption at the same time. I did just read the label on the tuna cans, and those horrible light tuna cans I'm supposed to use (lower mercury levels) have a whole 26g of protein per can. So I used 5 cans to make a huge batch of tuna salad with black olives, onion, chopped pickles and some herbs. Now I can nibble on that instead of all the cheese I normally eat.

My sister & dad will be very pleased if the full moon on the 13th effects this baby's birth date, as dad & I already share the 13th as our birthday, and they both think it would be cool to have a third generation with the same birthday. However I won't quite be 38 weeks at that point, and I don't like the idea of spending my birthday in labor, so I won't be disappointed if I have to wait a little longer than the full moon.

I think it would be amazing if you made it to your due date, too.  Only two more days to term, though!

I am!  I'm just over 38 weeks, but both of the boys were early and I've had prodromal labor for a month now so I keep expecting for labor to start.  I had lots of bloody show a couple of days ago but very little since then.

Our 11th anniversary is Friday the 5th.  I figure since that is the only day I don't want her to be born that she will arrive exactly then!  lol

Oh Becky...  Your forever no fret attitude is going to make you such a wonderful mother orngbiggrin.gif  I very much wish I could feel this way sometimes.

We had an incident where we had to replace our mattress earlier in the pregnancy.  Which was fine for me.  Knowing that baby was on the way, we were looking at King mattresses, but -- EGAD!  SOOOO expensive!!  Then we tried Ikea.  I like firm mattresses, so we picked a nice, firm spring mattress.  The king size was less than $200, if I remember correctly.  You can buy a mattress topper down the road for when baby is a little older, but their prices were by far the cheapest in town.  I know, I called EVERYWHERE.

Also, yes.  I'm anxiously checking every time I pee for any mucous, or any bloody show.  Except at night.  I keep thinking, "what if I lose the plug at night...  I'll never know!!"  It would just get flushed away...  ROTFLMAO.gif

But who doesn't want to spend their birthday in excruciating pain!?  Sigh.  I will hope that at least this go 'round, you're able to skip the many weeks of prodromal labor.

Maybe that's the problem.  There is not a single day between now and my EDD that I wouldn't be thrilled to give up just to get this baby OUT OUT OUT.

AFM -- Here's putting stock in that full moon.  That would be lovely.  Then I could cancel that awful dinner date on the 13th that I got roped in to! orngbiggrin.gif

Jumping into the chat thread this week. Let's see if I can keep up.

My week already seems overplanned: tomorrow half-day meeting at work with working lunch on important changes that should have been implemented long ago; Thursday OB-visit which includes two hours of driving; Friday nothing yet, so I may try to get a pre-birth haircut; Saturday night we're going to a friend's birthday party; Sunday DS1 is invited to a birthday party in the morning; Monday we're meeting DH's grad school advisor and her family for dinner. Time to give birth: none! But then I'm at 37 weeks today and I'm not expecting the baby to come until the second half of the month. DS1 arrived at 41+5 after lots of inductions, so realistically I should be thinking about having a baby in early September.

I'm trying to spend the time I have for myself, which is still plenty since DS1 is in daycare, reading, walking, getting things ready, planning dinners, and organizing the house (if I have energy left to do so). This is my first summer off in years - normally I've so many work-related projects that I'm at work every day for 6-8 hours - and I'm enjoying the slowness of it all but I am surprised how fast the days go.

Hope everyone's well and that the babies keep arriving as timely as possible.
