Help Mamas. I have been giving my 13 month old Floradix for about a month now for low iron. We have a re-check on Thursday of her levels. In the last week she has spit out 75% of the dose I am trying to give to her. Does anyone have an original way to get her to take it? I have put some in her water and she just spits that out too. She took it so well until this week. Any ideas would be appreciated

Putting it into a small amount of Orange Juice is a good idea since the Vitamin C will help with the iron absorption. Â I've put it in a dropper andÂ
shot it to the back of my son's mouth which minimized the "spit out" factor. Â Putting it into food is not recommended as Floradix should be taken on an empty stomach. Â Hope this helps!

I am engaged in this ongoing battle as well!!
Â
What I've come up with, is to keep switching containers. For some reason my DS loves small and tiny containers to drink (or pretend) to drink out of.
Â
When he stops drinking it out of whatever I am currrently using, I look for something new to use. Right now he is using a 1/4 cup measuring spoon.
Â
When that fails, I use a dropper. And its not really easy.
Â
For some reason my DH can get him to drink it, unfortunately, that cant happen every day due to DH's work schedule. My mom can get him to take it too, so maybe try having someone else present it as a novelty?
Â
Also, if youre trying to up iron intake, does your DD like juice? We have a juicer and our iron recipe is Parsely, Spinnach, Chard, and Lemon. He will drink this about 75% of the time I give it to him. Parsely has the densest vegatable iron content, so I put it in a lot of our meals. HTH =)

My mama is a midwife and she says that when people really need iron Floradix tastes good to them, and when they don't need it anymore it doesn't. Maybe you'll find tomorrow that your lo's levels have improved? I hope so! She also says that liquid chlorophyll really helps boost iron levels -- it is pretty sweet and might go down diluted or in juice? Definitely something to consider pairing with the Floradix if you continue with it after tomorrow.
Thank you for all the responses. Sunnygir1 I was thinking the same thing about her spitting it out because she doesn't need it anymore. We had a great re-check. Last month she was at 6.1 or 6.2 and they said she was severely anemic and today she was 10.3 and they said normal is 11.  So we are very happy. Cooking in a cast iron pan and good food combining plus the Floradix has made the difference.Â

Yay! Congratulations. I know how frustrating and scary that kind of thing can be. Good work.
