I am a student midwife, who will be offering Montrice services as well as Birth Doula services. Montrice services are outside the scope of practice of a labor doula and include taking vital signs, assessing fetal heart tones, and checking cervical dilation. These can be helpful if you are wishing to stay home for the better part of your labor , but want to be sure to make it to the hospital or birth center in time for delivery or if your midwife lives a distance away and you want someone to assess you until she arrives. Montrice services are not for medical treatment, but only to assess your progress in labor.

I am offering low-cost Doula services to women in the MD-DC Area AND FREE services to teens with EDDs in August 2011 (limited availability), September 2011-January 2012.
