Hi All! My name is Emma. I'm the mother of 15 month old Maya, who is quite the spirited child. We're a breastfeeding, sling-packin', co-sleeping, (mostly) cloth diapering family, as well.Â
At different points in my life I have been a K-12 art teacher, photographer, belly dancer, retail worker, and tons of other little things here and there. Currently, I am staying at home to raise Maya. I still do photography, as it's a flexible job and I do enjoy it. I'm super crafty and always seem to need some kind of project to immerse myself into when I have a moment to spare (which seems to happen less and less). The library is my best friend.
I have been in Tucson, AZ since 2003, but lived in Oklahoma before that. It sometimes feels very challenging to keep the conviction to raise my daughter in the way that seems right to me while living in a society/culture that shuns almost all of my decisions based on its customs. I like the inspiration and insight that these forums provide as they help me to feel like I AM doing what's best for us!

Welcome to Mothering!
