I just lost my cool with my son who is the sweetest, most gentle little 7 year-old. I feel like such a jerk! I said sorry, and hugged him, but what else can I do ? :(

We are all human and screw up sometimes. I think, apologizing is a big thing. It shows your kid that all people make mistakes, that no one is perfect and that you have the humility to admit being wrong. I think it is important for kids to see us screw up sometimes, make amends, and move on. I think that is something we hope they will eventually be able to do, as well.

((carmel23)) I think it's commendable that you are upset about it! Most people wouldn't flinch to the thought of raising their voice to their DC. And then bringing it full-circle to apologize..you are indeed setting a good example! I think it is an excellent lesson to see someone we admire, falter for a minute, make appropriate corrections to themselves, and then move into a new action. Great job, momma! Keep up the great work!
