Since I had preeclampsia last pregnancy, my OB/GYN did baselines this time around to see where I started in case they needed to compare if I happen to develop PE again. They did blood work and a 24-hour urine. The blood work came out fine but the 24-hour urine came up with 1356 for protein when they don't want anyone over 300. They are having me do a redo 24-hour before referring me to nephrology. Needless to say, I am very scared and worried. My family has been telling me maybe the test was calculated wrong and this one will come back okay but I'm not convinced.  I have read a little bit about it and that it could be from several causes such as infection (UTI), kidney damage, stress, etc., but since my last pregnancy I always had the worry in the back of my mind that my kidneys may have been damaged from all of the strain with the PE, i.e. blood pressure, protein, etc. It took a lot of soul searching to come to the decision to have another baby again.

Has anyone had this happen and if so what was the cause? I haven't been researching much at all until I get my second set of results back which will be by early next week hopefully. It's just really hard not to be concerned and scared, epsecially this early in the pregnancy.
