I have a 9 month old and up until now we have been putting him down to sleep whenever he felt tired. He was usually a late night owl (minus a few weeks when he went to bed at 8). 11 is his usual. (He would wake up around 9-ish way back but its more like 7-8 now) NOT because we don't want him to go to sleep earlier. We just can't get him to sleep. Now that its a bigger problem since he is mobile and interested in the world he has trouble winding down. I started reading the no cry sleep solution book and at one point it cited some sleep expert saying that a late bed time is can be very detrimental to a baby.

WOW. now i am panicd. I see scenes running through my head of evenings when i attempt to put baby to sleep only to give up and bring him in the living room for play. Thinking: well if he doesn't want to sleep no point in exhausting myself. We even had get-togethers with baby staying up late.

I LIKED the EASY "follow baby cues" philosophy. I thought its ok to just let baby sleep when he needs to sleep. I'm confused, especially since the author seems attachement parenting minded.

I started reading the book and looking for alternatives because i thought IIIIIIII was not comfortable with the way the way things were going. Now I worry that it was all bad for baby?
