I can't find a current moving thread and I'm looking for some support! No one in real life wants to hear the super detailed breakdown of all my decluttering and packing :) We are moving to our first home the week of August 15th and I'm trying to pack our house while my husband is out of the country.

We're moving into our farmhouse right now. Our last day at our apartment is September 10th (dh's b-day) so at least we have a while to get things moved. I really wish we could have done this before we had a baby though! It is impossible to pack with a 3 month old wanting to nurse 24/7!

We are moving by September 1. Â The new owners have possession that day. Â We will be moving from a 1242 sq foot house to a 27ft camper until the new house we are building(which hasn't been started yet, lol) is done. Â The new house is going to be about the same size as the house we're leaving.
Â
I packed alot of stuff a year ago that never came out of it's boxes/tubs or was taken out & put back in.
Â
the hardest thing to go through is the girls toys. Â My youngest plays with them the most & doesn't want to get rid of any of them. Â Most of them were packed up a year ago. Â There are 4 basic types of toys she had in the basement, I'd like to at least downsize the volume of each type. Â We have 10 years of barbies, polly pockets, kitchen stuff/dolls & dress up clothes
Â
The hardest part of wanting to downsize those toys is that i have quite a few books/movies that I don't want to downsize(mine & the girls).lol  but they do take up less space.
Â
We decided to get rid of the Christmas tree(much to dh's joy, he hates Christmas.lol). Â So I have to find that tub & get rid of the actual tree as the support is gone. Â
Â
There are things we've realized we won't need in the new house that are going(microwave stand, living room lamp). Â

We will be moving at the end of the month. It's absolutely daunting...
I'm trying to seize the opportunity to declutter, though, and we plan to have a yard sale in a few weeks, so that will help.
Â
DH stopped by the grocery store today and they were able to give him a few boxes. They said they have a big shipment coming in tonight and they will save the boxes for him to pick up tomorrow. I thought that was pretty nice of them :)
Looks like a lot of people moving in September! We're closing on our house at the beginning of next week and should have the keys Tuesday. We're just moving about 10-15 minutes from where we live now, so hopefully it won't be too bad. I'm also 27 weeks pregnant, so I plan on doing a lot of directing instead of actual moving. You think I can get my bed to the new house first so I can lay down and rest? ![]()

We are moving from NC to NM at the beginning of September and the decluttering has been AWESOME! I have never found it so easy to get rid of things. It's great having to go through everything and I'm at a point in my life where I feel like I can get rid of sentimental things (I have found movie stubs and other ticket stubs stuffed in the funniest places that I kept through high school and college!). It feels really good and I'm really excited to move into a new house that is hopefully more neat.

Jayray- Wow, that's a big move! I hope it goes smoothly for you.Â
Â
Hurray for easy decluttering! I hope I can motivate myself to get rid of some little trinkets/sentimental things soon! I bet I have a couple boxes worth.
Â
I am currently brainstorming ways to keep our new place from getting fleas. Every time we move we treat the cats, but somehow the fleas come with us... I'm thinking of boarding the cats for a few days at the vet's so all the fleas can die off and I can shampoo the carpets in peace.

We move all the time. We're on our third state and our second (soon to be third) house in this state (Arizona)-- as we're renters.
Â
Declutter, ladies! I hate all that little stuff at the end that you end up throwing in a box...might as well just junk it.
Â
As for moving while pregnant, we moved from NC to TX when I was 35 weeks with my first. I don't think I unpacked more than one box before that baby came!

We are moving next summer too. It's going to be a BIG process, decluttering all this stuff.Â
So far, we've got rid of a bunch of paint cans and other hazardous waste at the city depot.Â
Next up, is the computer/electronic depot...that's sure to be a full van load too.Â
Â
My worry is fixing the house up to sell, with the little money we have to do it with.
