Sippy cup or straw?

Is it easier to transition to a drinking cup from a sippy cup or a straw?

DS drinks from both, but I think I want to limit him to which ever will be eaiser to transition to drinking straight out of a cup.

We skipped the sippy cup all together and went with the straw.  We only use the straw cup when we are out and about.  We give her an open cup when we are home.  The majority of the time we hold it for her to avoid the mess, but we also let her practice quite often (water spills and all).

pretty much the same as the above poster skipped the sippy just to straw though we do about 50/50 open cup straw cup both at home and out.

We use a straw cup when we're out. My daughter is 12 mos. old and we give her a shot glass to practice with at the table.

we skipped both and went straight to a regular cup. I would say straw is probably be easier because you learn if you tip, you spill, the coordination of getting the straw in the mouth, etc
