How hot is TOO hot?

OK, we have been having WEEKS of extremely hot & humid weather here in NC, and we are really goign stir crazy. However, DS2 is 19 days old, so I have been reluctant to take him out in the heat due to concerns that he could not handle it. Would you take your NB out in weather in the 90's?? Obviously not in the direct sun, or for extremely long times, but both my other babies were fall/winter babes, so I'm not sure when it's OK to take him out for longer times, like taking the kids to the park or pool in the morning hours. Thoughts??

My DD was born in May and we live in TX where it's been over 100 since then with no relief in sight.  It is way too hot for her and for me.  Her only time outside has been from the car to the store and vice versa.   It's even too hot for her to sit in the shade so we take turns taking our older son to the pool.  It makes for a sucky summer and maternity leave.

I think he would fine as long as you kept him out of direct sunlight, dressed him in cool, breatheable clothes, and didn't stay out for too long. I would think an hour or so at the park, in the shade, would be fine. Think of all the babies born into this world who live in really warm climates. They get by ok. I think we sometimes overthink this temperature business. Of course, extremes should be avoided and precautions should be taken, but most weather conditions, especially in a place like NC (we're not talking northern Maine in January or Palm Springs in July), babies will do just fine.

Btw, I'm in Oklahoma and we've been over 100 for well over a month now. Last few days have been 110+. I'm dreaming of highs only in the 90s!

Go out and have some fun!
