What picture books do you like for the four seasons? If you dont mind, tell which books for which season, sometimes it is hard to tell by the covers.

Thanks for sharing!

I like Elsa Beskow's Around the Year for all the seasons and Ollie's Ski Trip for Winter.

Thanks, appalachiamama!

I am trying to put together some ideas for seasonal books and games without already having a Waldorf book collection. I love all the Elsa Beskow and similar books, but I cannot afford them all at once, so I was hoping that some of you who do have a seasonal library would share which books align with the various seasons to help me purchase them one season at a time.

I only have The Sun Egg, but our library has most of the rest, so I just check them out during their appropriate seasons.

Our summer books:

Summer ~ Dr Seuss

Summer ~ Elsa Beskow

Up, Down, and Around ~ Katherine Ayres

Marshmallow Kisses ~ Linda Crotta Brennan

Witzy's Colorful Garden ~ Nancy Paren

For fall I only have Fall by Elsa Beskow, but I will check some out from the library and try to buy the ones we like.

I think you asked about picture books. We love the Gerda Muller books. Also, Ronald Heuninck's books, Lekker spelen and Buiten spelen from nova natural. Only the B.s. one goes through the seasons. The other is indoor play and my kids like seeing our kind of toys in a book. But the Daniella Drescher books also go through the seasons in each book, though they aren't picture/board books like the others. Gerda Mullers are hands down the best for board picture books, I'd say. There's a lot more for when the people are older. HTH!

while not "waldorf", the books for each season of the Brambly Hedge books are beautiful and sweet - the tales of the mice that live near the creek is simple and the watercolor illustrations are sweet. The 4-9 year range would be a great fit for that series.

My goodness, I LOVE the Brambly Hedge books!  They are wonderful for their seasonal themes, but I agree they are for slightly older children who are able to follow the stories.  The illustrations are amazing!

I have just started a new series of posts called 'Our Seasonal Book Basket', sharing a book from our book basket each week, which you might be interested in looking at. Below the post, there is also a link 'widget' where other bloggers can link to their own blog post with what seasonal books they are reading too, so hopefully there will be lots of suggestions!
