So I've Been Up Since 2:30AM....Midpregnancy insomnia anybody? - Page 3

Oh man, I'm totally not the only one, yay! (kinda)  My first daughter falls asleep after 12, my second daughter wakes up between 8-9, and all night this baby kicks relentlessly.  I'll sit on the computer or read until I feel tired, but then as soon as I get in bed I am SO AWAKE.  By the time I fall asleep I have to pee again, and then after the sun comes up I toss and turn even though I have lightblocking curtains in my room.  I wish caffeine did something for me, but I think I am the only person in the world where no matter how much I have, it has absolutely ZERO effect.  I'm weird I guess.  I keep falling asleep in the afternoon with a movie on for the girls, but they know how to open the front door and go play on the swingset outside, which isn't usually a problem as I can here them from anywhere in the house, except when I am asleep of course.  Today they woke me up before they left, and it was torture to drag myself out front.  I ended up just laying in the grass and dozing, i'm sure the neighbors think I am nuts!

Whoa! I got my first full 7 hours of sleep last night! Is it sad that I'm excited about a full night of sleep? I think it had something to do with what time I was taking my medication. Lately, I had been forced to take it later in the day, because if I forgot and took it in the evening, I have to take it as close to 24 hours as possible, so it doesn't mess up any cycling, so it stayed in the evening for almost 2 weeks (also due to refill problems- GRRR!). So, yesterday, I was finally able to take it at noon and I slept GREAT! FINALLY!

looks like no sleep for me.. yet at least.  I get restless legs something FIERCE during pregnancy (rarely when not pg) and I have tried EVERY remedy with no luck.  That, plus the potty breaks, snoring husband, and kicking baby, have me up more than I'd like.  I LOVE sleep but have never been a great sleeper.  Sigh.  Looks like I'll have to keep napping 3-5 times a week for the remainder of this pregnancy.

Yeah, I got six hours all in one shot tonight because DH got up with the girls all night, but now my body is saying "holy cow! That's way too much sleep!  GET UP GET UP!"  ummm, how 'bout another couple of hours?

I think I've cured it for myself - I was having a hard time getting back to sleep after waking at 4 or 4:30 am to pee because it was starting to get light outside, so I just stopped drinking water about an hour before bed and cut out drinking water during the night. I wake up REALLY thirsty, but I'm getting more solid sleep and only having to get up once to pee. I slept from 10:30pm to 3am and from 3:30ish to 7:30am last night. And that's how it's been this whole week (with the exception of yesterday morning, woke up at 4 and couldn't get back to sleep, but did nap from 9am to noon...)!!

Oh, I hear you on the restless legs. It was alien when it started and in the end I'd start shaking a leg (sounds funny) and it would kind of relax me and I would get sleepy enough I could stop and not move. But, I think it's got somethiing to do with increased circulation, because I'm also way more sensitive in the legs when it comes to touch. That, potty breaks and sore hips are the combination that wake me and keep me up.

I hope you meant you'll be napping 3-5 times a day and not a week. It's rough enough when the sleep's broken. Deprivation is even worse.

I think I've had a total of about 12-14 hours sleep since Sunday night. Hubby said I shouldn't even bother with a schedule. Just sleep when I feel I can. He's right.

Dh and I spent the last two days fighting. Yesterday I just had DD3. I fell asleep when she napped from 2-5. We ate in bed and played on the bed (dancing to mp3s on my nook, rolling around, tickle fights, etc) until she went back to bed around 7:30 Then I slept off and on until 4am. Got up went back to bed after feeding her at 7:15. Her and I hung out in bed mostly sleeping until noon. I think her and the baby both are having growth spurts this week!!!

UGH have you found anything that cures your RLS?  I've tried supplements (cal-mag, iron, etc) as well as chamomile tea, epsom salt soaks, massage, stretching, orgasm (yes,the new research shows a daily "dose" of dopamines- ie an orgasm- will help.  Well it helped a couple of times but I guess I am immune to dopamines now, haha!

Nope just 3-5 days a week I get to nap.  I wish I could nap whenever I wanted throughout the day but my DS is not okay with that, lol!

I get RLS sometimes and it's the WORST for trying to sleep. Painful and all......Sometimes I just say f*ck it and stay up as long as I can.

I have been struggling with insomnia on and off throughout my pregnancy. The hardest thing is when I don't sleep well heading into a week day because I get really bad nausea and dizziness....however I still have to work, and it SUCKS to be at work when you are not feeling well :(

I feel like I have been having a little RLS...I def cannot sleep without my eyemask on (to make sure its pitch black), or without my sound machine (as I am a very light sleeper). Last night I was tired but I still tossed and turned...I was hot and then cold all night :(

I just want to sleep!!!!

I have been suffering from pregnancy induced insomnia pretty much my entire pregnancy   I haven't had a full night's sleep since I found out I was pregnant (found out at 5 weeks, now at 27w3d), last night I took 5 trips to the loo.  Never make it to bed before 12, and always wake up around 3am too ... then it takes a while to fall asleep again, in which case I sometimes end up having to wake DH because he snores :D  and it keeps me from sleeping.  When I was about 7 weeks pregnant I had a whole week of being awake from 2am till 6am, and then trying to go back to sleep on the couch because it was so much more comfy than our bed I had bloodshot eyes and looked oh so pretty!! lol. I had lost my job right before i found out I was pregnant, so thankfully I was not working at that point, and because I wasn't able to find a job again, I could at least not worry about going to work all tired (I am in Canada and was on Employment Insurance).  I still don't sleep full nights, my hips hurt too much so that wakes me too ... But my DH reminded me, it is just my body preparing me to deal with night feedings/wakings of our sweet baby that is due in the middle of November.  I am so excited to be a mommy that the sleepless nigths are well worth it

I have the weirdest thing this pregnancy, my arms fall asleep all night long, and it's not the one I'm laying on, it's the one on top!  I would have had a good nights sleep last night, (only two potty trips) but I kept having to switch from side to side every few minutes.

I use a 'huggy' pillow to prevent this. I put a pillow in front of me and basically 'hug' it, or just drape my top arm over it. Otherwise I get the same thing, my top arm falls asleep.

After seeing the chiro I slept like a baby last night :) It almost felt like I wasn't even pregnant! Once I reached 24 weeks finding a comfortable spot had been hard...but after getting adjusted I was able to sleep just fine!

The past few nights I've been having a different kind of sleeping problem. I wake up at 3am and have to eat something or I can't fall back asleep! Gah! I've never been like that. The baby must be HUNGRY! lol. My go-to snack is now a piece of fruit with peanut butter. It seems to do the trick. I'm out like a light within 10 minutes. I probably need to start eating something right before bedtime so I'll stop waking up in the middle of the night.... I don't like to do that, though, because eating makes me thirsty, and I intentionally cut down on drinking water before bedtime lately so I could sleep BETTER. Liquids will make me toss and turn in my sleep until I get up to pee. Grrrrr.

Does anyone have a really good snack suggestion for right before bedtime?

LOL I woke up last night at around 3 and HAD to have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. No suggestions here. lol You can see what my go-to snack last night was. :P
