Moving to our homestead in 2 years...what to do now?

We are military, getting out in 2 years and I want to move to a home with a little land..I would really like to be self sufficient..what can I do now to prepare?

Start saving money, teach yourself to can and dry foods, start reading all you can on sustainability and just start researching.  You would be surprised at what youtube offers.

make looking at craiglist a weekly habit, you can get things like pressure canning supplies, beehives & stuff, freezers (if you have room to shuffle them till then) whatever else you might want. 

maybe make a list of the livestock etc you want and the accoutrements you need for them.  take some classes if you can or go to weekend workshops if your military schedule allows? 

do lots of reading, of course... check out potential areas?

Yea, go visit your local extension office.  They normally have great resources.
