When do you generally start "nesting?"

I'm really feeling like I'm nesting.  I never felt this sensation with my first pregnancy, so I don't know how to take it.  Is it a sign of impending labor, or is it something that can occur weeks in advance?  I'm almost 37 weeks.  I just don't know if I should judge how close I am to going based on these really strong urges to clean and organize and get everything "ready" when I'm normally so LAZY about that kind of stuff.  I'm exhausted, but I HAVE to be doing something!  So I want to know:  what are your experiences with "nesting?"

I am 38+1.  And yeah the nesting urge is hitting pretty hard, has been for a couple weeks now.  I didn't really experience it much with my first pregnancy either, but boy have I made up for it this time around!  Are you in our August DDC?  Not too late to join!  Lots of us there are nesting crazily!

I started nesting when I was like 6 months pregnant. I don't think it necessarily means anything. smile.gif

I WISH I could have a nesting urge. I'm almost 39 weeks and even everyday tasks are so hard for me to accomplish. I posted on FB that I made a really great meal the other night and got a ton of replies back saying "You're nesting! Baby must be coming soon!" But really it took me twice as long to cook the meal as usual, and I made DH do the dishes, even though it was my turn. I hope it doesn't mean baby is far off from coming...

Ditto that.  I started nesting before I even got pregnant...it continued through most of the second trimester and then slowed to a more normal pace until about 37w when I half forced myself back into hyper-nesting mode so I could get every single last thing done.  My son was born at 39w 4d.

I start nesting as soon as I become pregnant, lol, I don't think it means anything either.

Yep, doesn't mean anything! Except that your house is cleaner LOL I nested for over a week a couple of weeks ago, omg I couldn't resist! After days of scrubbing and rearranging I felt I needed a break, and tried to lay on the couch and watch movies all day but I didn't even make it to lunch before the bathroom called me to come scrub it. I remember in my first pregnancy, doing this kind of thing at around 2 months. I have never felt the urge this strongly though and this is my 4th pregnancy! Even my 16 year old got in on my nesting one day :)
