When to apply for food assistance?

I was working fulltime until Aug. 1st, and now I'm on modified bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy. I'm almost 29 weeks now with twins. I do qualify for short term disability, and FMLA. I'm hoping I can quit altogether after the babies come. We will need help if I have no income, and am wondering when it would be a good time to apply for food assistance.

Would it be best to do it now, or wait until after the babies come, or later, if I'm ale to quit?

ETA: We've tried applying in the past, and we were told we are above the income limits.

i would apply now.  Worst case scenario is you are turned down.  Then if your income changes again you can reapply.

Agreed,  Apply now.  It can take several weeks to be processed.  You should also apply for WIC.

How are you with health insurance?  Do you need Medicaid?  You may qualify since you are pregnant.

You should apply now, and your worker will probably have you come in and to change the amount you get per month after the babies are born. If you qualify for fs, you qualify for wic.
