Did you even read the thread? Because what I see mentioned (fruit, cheese, veggies, beans, nori) are all pretty high in "food value".

I do agree that gluten issues are really rare and stuffy noses are common in toddlers.

Adding to the freeze-dried love - dd's very favorite snack is freeze-dried corn and peas. We buy the "Just Tomatoes" organic. They're messy for the car if they spill, but a delicious and satisfying snack. Since she's a little older now at nearly 22 months, and I'm always trying to boost her caloric intake, I've recently added sunflower seeds to the mix. It's like her little version of trail mix. I find sunflower seeds, corn and peas everywhere, but it's worth it.

I started with the saltine crackers because they disolve so easily- but then "advanced" to those organic ritz type crackers. I just noticed that when he ate too many he got stuffy- I notice the same thing if I feed him too much bread and too much dairy. I think sometimes he just needs snacks to munch on for certain times- he eats a good diet with plenty of fruits and veggies and protiens and other good things- it is just sometimes, not only in the car but when I am home alone with him- when we have been playing all day and I am fully engaged with him- and I just NEED to get something done for a few minutes- if I give him a cracker or a few ( or now pirates booty is working well!!) he will sit and happily eat them and give me a few moments to do something else!

Oh the freeze dried peas! I forgot about those. DS loves them and so do I. They dissolve even easier than saltines and are the perfect size for little hands to hold.
