Please recommend a fun, laid back preschool dance class in South Austin

Hi Ladies,

We're new to Austin and would love to enroll our preschooler in a dance class.  DD has attended an awesome Creative Movement class for the last year that's been the highlight of her week.  Her old teacher was absolutely wonderful.  We're looking for a fun, mixed gendered class without too much emphasis on barre work and proper positioning.  DD is 3.5.  Our house is in South Austin and we'd love for the class to be within 10-15 minutes from home.

My daughter has been going to Escuelita Dance (www.escuelitadance.org) for awhile now. It's more than just a dance class, though....more like an arts program, in English and Spanish. Hours are 9am-1pm and they are open 5 days/wk, with minimum enrollment of 2 days/wk. My girl started going 2 days/week right before she turned 2yo. We went up to 5 days as she is 5yo now, then back down to 3 days since they started opening later a few days a week for the older kids (most of the kids are around 3yo). We LOVE it. The owner/main teacher Odette is really wonderful and they treat each kiddo as an individual. They do yoga, ballet, tap, ballet folklorico, theatre, music, outside time.... I'm actually sad to think of leaving next year when dd starts kinder. It's located in the same building as Tapestry Dance, which also has great dance classes for little ones if you wanted to look into the classes they offer as well. Good luck!
