Help! Cramps!

Thread Starter

I am about 4 weeks and a few days (just got my BFP Tuesday).  I've been cramping-- like normal period cramps since Sunday.  But, since yesterday I've been getting more cramps that are like stop-you-in-your-tracks, writhing-in-pain, awful!  I sweat and I've almost thrown up.  Does anyone have any input???

Wow, Jessi, that sounds awfully stressful for you right now!  And I feel bad that you are in so much pain.  Do you have a care provider that you can call and see sooner rather than later?  I know in Canada here, we can easily go to the ER or an urgent care clinic and we don't have to worry about paying out-of-pocket... so if that was happening to me, I would go to get it checked out right away. I had to do that, in fact;  I was having an awful pain when I was early in my trimester when I was pregnant with my DS, and I went to the ER, and they did an u/s.  They didn't find anything wrong, other than a harmless cyst on one of my kidneys that didn't have anything to do with the pregnancy they said, and I was really glad that I went because then I had peace of mind, even though the pain lasted for 4 weeks total (it was when I sat down a certain way, or walked on hard/uneven ground).  I hope that others on here can offer their experience/suggestions to you so you can decide what, if anything, you need to do.

Thanks Tenzin!  I think I will be having an ultrasound on Monday, but I have no idea what I'm gonna do till then?!  I don't know at what point I should head back to the ER-- didn't seem like they could do anything-- even diagnostic tests with how early I am.  I just am so tired from the constant cramping and I am feeling really anxious about it greensad.gif

I would go to the ER if the pain will not go away. If there is a chance it could be ectopic they could do an ultrasound, blood work etc. I had internal bleeding from an ectopic pregnancy just under 5 weeks. I think I was 4w3d when the pain started and continued to get worse with each day. I don't want to scare you but better to be safe than sorry. Good luck momma

Hasn't stopped yet.  I am going in tomorrow for follow-up blood work to check HCG level and then an ultrasound to rule out ectopic-- if they can see anything yet greensad.gif.  I'm really hoping it's nothing like that.  I'm gonna keep praying.gif

Thinking of you and hoping everything is okay...

How did everything go with the u/s and the bloodwork?  Sending positive thoughts!

UPDATE: My HCG was good on Monday (went from 350 on Friday to 1248 on Monday), but they wanted it above 2,000 to do an ultrasound.  Had the ultrasound yesterday and the doctor showed us a sac in my uterus!!!!  Yay!!!!  So, that's good news!  The bad news is I have 2 cysts on my right ovary and he couldn't visualize my left ovary (which is the side that hurts more).  Any input on the cysts?  Is that something to worry about?

Are they hemhorragic cysts or was the bleeding caused by something else?  Here's a quote regarding this type of cyst:

Quote:

Hemorrhagic cyst: This type of functional cyst occurs when bleeding occurs within a cyst. Symptoms such as abdominal pain on one side of the body may be present with this type of cyst.

A lot of cysts resolve on their own, but they are more likely to cause issues if they are quite large, bleed, rupture, etc.

Congrats on the increased hCG and viewing the gestational sac!  Yay!  joy.gif

Jessi, that is such good news about the little bean!  I'm really glad that you now know what the reason is for the cramps.  I don't know anything about cysts-- what does your doctor say?

Jaimee~  I've never had any bleeding.  He didn't say what kind of cysts they were.  I'm still having pretty bad cramps, though a little less of the horrible ones that make me feel like I'm dying!

Ten~  Thanks!  He didn't tell me what's causing the pain.  He just said if it changes or gets worse that I will need to go back in greensad.gif

Oh, no bleeding, just cramping... sorry I misread your earlier post!  Cysts can absolutely cause you pain.  If they get large enough they can twist the ovary and this is cause for concern.  If they rupture, that can cause more pain and bleeding.  But again, most cysts resolve on their own and usually the only thing that doctors do is monitor them via u/s to make sure that things are resolving or at least not getting worse.
