Menses Returning?

Hi all, not sure where I should be posting this question but, I am 7 weeks PP and EBF'ing.  After DS was born, I bled for almost 2 weeks and then no bleeding until now.  For the past 2 days I have been bleeding again...like a light-medium period.  I've been a little crampy as well.  I have a prolapsed uterus and checked the other day to see if my cervix had risen up at all, and that night is when I started spotting...I thought that this was just spotting from my cervical check, but now I am not sure because the bleeding is more than spotting .  Is it possible my period is returning already even though I EBF?  Or could this be something else?  I really don't want to start having my menses again so soon...was really looking forward to at least a few months with no bleeding :(  This kind of bleeding ever happen to anyone else this early PP and then go away without having a period for a while after?  TIA....

I don't get my AF back until about 2 months after I have completely weaned, but I have friends that gets their back around the 7-8 week mark even when EBF. It could be your AF trying to start, or it could just be spotting. Breastfeeding can cause spotting too. I personally wouldn't count it as a "real" AF unless there were at least 3 days of real bleeding, not just spotting. Then again, I'm no doctor lol. I hope someone else chimes in!

Thanks for the reply...it is definately a period, I am on day 4 now and the bleeding is heavier than yesterday even.  I have that heavy period feeling in my pelvis, and I am a little crampy as well.  I am thinking it is definately a period.  When I was BF my twins I had spotting here and there..this is definately more than spotting.  My menses returned 6 months PP with my twins and I BF them for 3 1/2 years.  Guess I am not one of the lucky ones who goes a year or more with no period...lol  Hopefully after this period I won't have another one for a while....If that is possible.

My cycle returned at around 3.5mo pp after both pregnancies.  I was surprised, too, the first time.  After the second, I just realized that's just my body.

My first son was FF, my period returned at 3 months and it was HEAVY, the heaviest I've ever had.. my second son is 9 months old, and I had some light spotting about two weeks ago (RIGHT at the 9 month mark) interestingly, it was right after I stopped pumping at work.. it was only 2 days and extremely light, but I am cramping off and on since then.

A friend of mine is still EBF her 21 month old (well, she gets solids) and hasn't had a period yet, she is wanting to conceive again, but doesn't want to wean her little girl. Another friend got her period back at 4 months, although she was EBFing.

So glad I found this thread---great input! My son is 15 months and still breastfeeds VERY frequently. My period still hasn't returned, which my midwife said is nothing to worry about, but after two years of no cycles, I was beginning to wonder. Pretty amazing how much our bodies vary!
