Inexpensive RF carseat?

Basics: The baby is nearing the weight limit on his Graco Snugride fast. I have older ds in a FF Radian (he's 4 and 38lbs). We have a Honda Fit.

Is there an inexpensive yet somewhat narrow carseat that has a high RF weight limit? The Radian was a pain RF in the Fit because it seemed to need a lot of room--we had to drive around with the passenger seat pulled all the way up.

We are also looking to get a second vehicle, hence why the car seat needs to be inexpensive. I've been getting a ton of pressure to just put older ds into a booster, but isn't 4 young for this?

The Cosco Scenera is very inexpensive and most of them RF to 40 lbs now.  Target carries the 40 lb version, I know for sure.  It's not the tallest seat around, but it will last for quite a while and is only about $50.
