new mama, Oregon coast, anybody out there?

We just moved to Florence with our delightful four-month-old boy. I would love to meet some mamas within an hour of here, even just to chat and share resources.
I am thirty-three, SAHM with a crafty side. We practice attachment parenting and elimination communication. I am agnostic, but value other people's beliefs. I am on the Weston A. Price end of the food continuum, formerly vegetarian. I taught toddlers at a Montessori school once upon a time, but by no means do I think it's the best method for every child.
Our life is really simple right now, and I am missing having good girlfriends to share my time with. Can't have too many of 'em!
I look forward to seeing who is around- Helena

Just saying hi!  We're in Dallas but we LOVE Florence and stop by there every couple of weeks on our way to Port Orford.  It's such a great place and has become my new favorite beach town.  I haven't seen much from the coast folks on here... maybe it would be worth it to occasionally drive into Eugene to connect with people?  We're thinking about relocating to Florence or thereabouts but one of the things that's holding us back is not knowing whether there's a family-friendly community down there.  Best of luck to you!

Thanks for stopping by, Sparklett! Florence is a pretty cute town.
We do get over to Eugene pretty frequently. I only know a small handful of people there because we were living in Umpqua, but one of my Eugene friends has a boy just a month older than my son. I don't mind traveling, but it would be nice to make some more friends who are willing to make the drive, too, kwim?
Is Florence family-friendly? Hmmm. The greater portion of the population are retirees who are thrilled to have a baby around, but I don't see so many other families who aren't visiting. I haven't actually come across a playground in my neighborhood yet and I walk a mile or two every day. I have only found one other mama who breastfeeds. We've only been here for a couple of months, though, so I'm holding out hope.

I really hope you find some like-minded people over there.  A colleague of mine was thinking about doing a community analysis to see if the old Rite Aid building on the 101 could be transformed into a children's museum.  I'd sure love to see something like that, but I'm just not sure if there's enough kids around there to support it.

We're south of CB/NB, but go up there at least once a week. That's about an hour's drive for you. Sounds like you might be interested in driving once in awhile for some socializing? We're a homebirthing, cloth-diapering, breastfeeding, attachment parenting family who also try our best to eat the WAPF way. We'd love to meet you and your family sometime. Also, we're apart of a Meetup group that you may be interested in, if you want to check that out. It can be difficult to find young families here on the southern oregon coast, but if you tell the Universe what you want and need, She'll send it to you.

Thanks, Littlebearsmama! Yes, I am willing to travel. This message makes me happy indeed.
I would very much like to know about the group, and see if we can manage to meet each other.
Please pm me with details. My schedule is very flexible. I have close friends who just moved to Myrtle Point that I love to see as often as I can, so if I am in Coos Bay, I have an excuse to pop over and see them, too.
Thanks so much!
