Hi all,
I am happy to have found this forum, I have been freaking out for several days now and could use some advice, support. My DD (just turned 5) went to the dentist late last week and I was shocked to learn the condition of her teeth. She has a cavity in her second to last molar that needs a SS cap according to the dentist. She was seen by a dentist last year, around this time and he literally counted her teeth, said everything looked good and sent us on our way. I am just devastated by this, I thought we had been doing everything right- limited juice and sweets, regular brushing and visits to the dentist. Because she could not tolerate the X-ray (strong gag reflex) they don't actually know if she will need more than one cap. I am getting a second opinion, but am wondering if anyone had any advice on how to proceed. Apparently she is prone to cavities because her teeth are very close together and "soft". I have been reading that some of you have had success with remineralizing teeth, but I am not sure where to start. I feel just like the worst mother on earth, and am very fearful that this will color her whole childhood. Also, has anyone had luck with nu smile caps? The dentist said that white caps chip and she will need them replaced yearly. Any help or encouragement for this very scared mommy would be appreciated!
