Cleaning the toilet

I know this is probably a no-brainer to a lot of people. But is there a sanitary and effective way of cleaning the toilet? I feel like I need to bleach the house after I use the plastic brushes because that is just so gross. I bought a Scrubbing Bubbles brush with disposable heads and it works really well, but it's not very eco-friendly and they stopped selling them here, so I can't get refills. How in the world can you clean the toilet and keep germs and grossness to a minimum?

By "plastic brushes" do you mean hand-held ones or toilet brushes?toilet brush.jpg

If you're talking handheld scrubber brush, then yeah, that would be gross to use on other surfaces. Using a toilet brush with cleanser and giving it a good rinse by leaving it in the bowl for another flush, then a good couple of taps on the side to shake off the excess and store it in a toilet brush holder, I don't see the issue.

That's what we do....otherwise the outside of the toilet gets wiped down with toilet paper and flushed.

The one in your picture. Just the toilet brush. I just find it gross to store anything that's been in my toilet in my house. lol.gif We have really hard water, too, because it just doesn't seem to work really well at the hard water residue and it is always orange from rust.

you could order the refills online. I just use a toilet brush and toilet cleaner, but it grosses me out too.

I have the toilet brush and holder.. one by each potty. I squirt in a shot of soap and scrub hard once a week. That's it. If I have a tummy flu going around, I might use a tad of bleach, but mostly not.

I've read in magazines that you can use a denture-cleaning tablet to get your toilet bowl clean without all the gross scrubbing - just set the tablet in overnight and it should be clean by morning, but you might have to run a brush along the bowl to make sure it's rinsed.

I haven't tried it yet (am waiting to use up my current cleaner), but I think that the effervescence of the tablets dissolves the ick from the bowl so you don't have to scrub.... at least, I hope that's how it works ;)
