Zoloft Generic?

Thread Starter

I just started on Zoloft (generic version) tonight.  Anyone else take it?  Did you notice any side effects?  Did it help you?

I've been on both. In fact, I just started back on the generic tonight.

I have done well with it in the past. I don't remember any side effects but since it was over 4 years ago, I may have forgotten what they were.

Honestly, I get the "what if it doesn't work" paranoia at first, but if I keep reminding myself how well I did on it, I feel better.

You have to give it time and realize you may have some bad/tough days, but it will get better.

Sorry you are going through this but I am glad you are trying something. I tried doing it on my own for several weeks before I called my dr and now, I am so glad I did.

What are your major symptoms?

I keep reminding myself that I am going to be ok. I have scheduled an appt with a therapist and I am seeing my dr in a couple weeks to see how I am doing. Honestly, I have to take it minute by minute sometimes. I also orderded a cbt workbook to use on my own, as well as journaling, and exercise.

*hugs* I hope you start feeling better soon.

Major symptom is depression, tired all the time, can't think straight, disorganization.

I went and had an EKG and my blood work today.  She is testing thyroid, Vitamin D levels, A1C and a bunch of other stuff.  I was on prozac in the past but quit taking it earlier this year because I knew we were losing our insurance.  But I found out I can get medicine with a small co-pay through the health department clinic.  Which is how I got this.

The most common side effect that i have heard of is naseau (sp...I always get that one wrong) and dry mouth. I was already feeling that way before the zoloft generic so I don't think it is a big concern. Most people found it went away over time.

Honestly, whether it was the placebo idea at work, I actually felt much better knowing I was going to start something.

I am also taking xanax, but that is for anxiety. The xanax generally helps me as I go through the first few weeks.

What dose are you starting with and does it go up after a week?

It took awhile for my ability to really concentrate, improved but it eventually did.

My dr is testing the same things, as well as my hormone levels.

I hope you get relief soon.

I started today. It made my stomach feel weird. Not quite nauseas, just weird. It also made me sleepy for a couple hours afterward. Now I just wait for it to kick in.

I started a month ago today. It's been amazingly wonderful. I did feel very sleepy for the first few weeks.

I am on my second day. I noticed it yesterday and around the same time today. I get this urge to yawn, everytime I talk. That or clench my jaw a little. I had a hard time sleeping last night, I took it earlier this morning today and I hope it makes a difference. I thought sleep would come easy with all the yawning, but I just laid there for a couple hours last night until I took some ativan. I hope its just the adjustment phase.
