Twin Cities Mamas - looking for childcare!

Hi there,

My partner and I are moving to Uptown and we're looking for childcare for our 22 month old daughter.  I'd love to hear about any experiences you've had with with centers, nannies or in-home care.  I've been home with my daughter since birth but I'm starting law school this fall.  It would take a lot of stress off to know that she's being cared for by a person/people with our same crunchy values!

Thanks,

Beth

I would be interested in this too...Asp in the summer I will need day care for a 6 yo, 4 yo, and infant. I will be going from never doing daycare in my life to full time infant daycare (recently became a single mom). Between the 4 kids we maybe able to hire a private someone to cater to us??? Say I paid $9/hr and you paid $3- that would be a decent hrly wage. Wanna team up? I am hoping to be relocated in S MPLS area by Dec/Jan (please keep eyes open for dog friendly 2+ room rentals in the cheap range). Currently 3 hrs W of MPLS but want baby delivered in cities and family support etc.

if you are open to a live-in nanny, I have had a Au Pairs take care of our three kids for the last 1 1/2 years. Au Pairs are usually 19 to 26 years old and from foreign countries. There are many agencies that can help you find an Au Pair. You get to email and interview them (skype works for most). An Au Pair agrees to stay in the US for at least a year, but no longer than two years. Since they stay with you they will really adjust to how you like to do things. Our Au Pairs have been wonderful! We had a Finnish one and now we have a German one. I hear the South American ones (Columbians, Mexicans) are more likely to extend their stay to two years.

The agencies I know of and appreciate are Cultural Care, Eur Au Pair and Au Pair in America.

Did you end up finding care? We are looking for a like-minded family to join our nannyshare. We have a 15 month old daughter and our nanny has a 11 month old son. We live in St. Paul, but I work in S. Minneapolis and would be willing to split locations. Or, anyone else out there in need of care?? Let me know if you're interested and would like more information :)
