I'm trying to help DC#2 have good sleep habits.  So far she's really a pretty good sleeper but I'm noticing some habits that I've been enabling that I think are not so great.  They really have to do with eating as well as sleeping (as they would for such a young child).

She has started to nurse to sleep, which is great.  It's so relaxing.  The thing is she cluster feeds a little and sometimes seems to want the relief of a nice filling belly when she's tired but she's sometimes too full to do that.  At 4 months would you start to help her space her feedings out so she can have a nice big nursing session before bed/naps?

At night she does this great 4 hour stretch from about 7-10.  She eats well at 10.  Then from about midnight on she wakes frequently. Again, I think she is looking for that nice big feeding but she's really pretty full.  Occasionally she will even wake after only about 15 minutes and is frustrated because she can't really nurse at all because she's too full.  One thing I have been doing, which maybe I should change, is I sometimes pop her off the breast when her nursing slows.  I'm thinking if I let her linger there for longer she'd get more hind-milk and maybe be fuller/sleep longer.  Thoughts?  I've also noticed that on some of her night wakings she's really, really sleepy and is a super lazy nurser.  Hum...

I've been working on getting her to take a pacifier but no luck yet.

I'd appreciate any help/suggestions.
