For two weeks I have been having severe pain in my lower back that goes down into my left leg. It makes my whole leg go into spasms. I have beens seeing the chiropracter, massaging the area, and keeping ice on it. 800 mg of Mortrin doesn't touch the pain, so I've stopped taking it. These are intense, labor-like pains. Does anyone have any suggestions? The pain is really getting to me. I can't find a comfortable position to sleep in, and I can't walk well.

well, when my flares up, so bad that I cant walk, I have to stay off it for a few days. then, on a DAILY basis, use a tennis ball massage technique

I use a wall to help in the massage. since doing this my pain has been DRASTICALLY reduced.Â
Â
Also, no high heels.Â

Getting up and moving really was the thing that got mine to be better. I found this website helpful for exercise and understanding why it hurt in your legs http://backpainandpregnancy.blogspot.com/2008/11/sciatica-real-pain-in-backside.html

I had surgery for my sciatic pain (disc was pressing on the nerve and the nerve had been damaged). I don't necessarily recommend it, and it took me years (still) to recover from it. A chiropractor who used an activator ultimately helped me heal. A regular "cracking" chiropractor didn't help. (and neither did physical therapy, or rolfing or meds...).
Â
Also, I took the cell salt calc fluor when I started seeing the chiropractor. It helps the back maintain the adjustment. Now, I don't even need to go back to the chiro when my back feels bad. I just take some calc fluor. (*reaches for the bottle...*)
