My 7 3/4 year old still has trouble singing with people or along with songs, but can sing songs fairly well on her own.  If you  have her sing a song a capella, you would not think she was tone impaired.  If you try to sing a duet with her, you'll think she is.

I was hoping she would age out of it over the summer, but I'm afraid it has not improved much.

She can pitch match well enough that she is not "tone deaf."   She has studied an instrument in private lessons for about two years now, though we've taken it fairly casually and only the last six months or so had her practice about five days a week.

Any  ideas for intervention?

I need to decide what to do about choir.  She loves choir and singing.  But she's getting to the age where they expect her to do better than she does, and she may need to sit out a year or do a year of some kind of alternative study, where she will not accidentally interfere with the other children.  And of course if she is going to need some special assistance to reach her goals, I want to make sure she gets that.
