Need Suggestions for Natural Mosquito Repllant

Thread Starter

I'm traveling with my 11 mo DS to India later this month and will be there for almost 3 months. I'm looking to buy some good DEET-free, chemical-free natural mosquito repellant for him (and me). Would you suggest some good ones and info on where to buy them? TIA.

I like Badger Balm's anti-insect balm.  It comes in a convenient roll up tube.

Ack, but the Badger Balm smell is SO strong I actually prefer the mosquito bites! (I realize that isn't an option for you in a malaria-endemic area though!) You might want to smell it before you buy it- wish I did! Or I can send you mine, cause it is hiding in a drawer somewhere...

Bite Blocker is fantastic and smells like wintergreen.  It works very, very well and is DEET free.

I make my own using a carrier oil and essential oils. I mix up which EOs based on which insects I am avoiding.

Recently, we traveled to the East Coast (Southern areas) and I wanted to repel mosquitos and flies and fire ants, etc. I was also making my own deodorant. With the air travel situation, I decided to use the deo to repel insects for a 2-in-1 product that didn't need to go into my quart-size baggie. I used lemongrass EO, lavender EO, rosemary EO, and homemade vanilla extract (organic vanilla bean infused vodka) and it worked like a charm. I am the only person who did not get bitten by a single insect. I am usually a magnet for those pesky critters, so I am VERY PLEASED!!!
