I have read thread after thread on early labour I am currently 39+4w and last wednesday I woke with lower back ache and cramping (period like) in my tum, I had a mw appointment that day and she told me the baby was well in and that I had tightening and that I was in early labour (yay) but she said that I may go off the boil (it could stop) and that it could take up to a week so now its a week today and I've still not started in labour!!! :( Im going out of my mind waiting to start, I've had every sign from popping sounds to cramping/aching and nesting, in fact the only things I have not had yet is "the show", regular contractions and my waters breaking. Though I have had a few times over the last couple of days that I thought my waters may be leaking but nothings come of it and I've talked myself out of it been so has anyone else had all this?? is labour near?? I have also tried everything suggested to bring labour on and nothings worked.

The best things to do are to keep yourself well hydrated, feed yourself good foods, rest when you can and be active Take walks, go swimming. Try not to worry about "when" and focus on taking great care of yourself in the final days of this pregnancy. You will never be pregnant with this baby again, enjoy it!!
Delastar, you should definitely come check out the August Due Date Club... there is a whole tribe of mamas there just waiting for our little ones to finally come out! I'm 39w3d today and I am not having ANY pre-labor signs, but I wish I was! I'm trying to remember that baby still has plenty of time to come, but I am starting to get impatient.

Each person and labor is so different, that it's hard to say what's happening. I never had any painful or crampy contractions before I was actually in labor. It was really obvious to me both times that I was in labor and that the baby was coming soon (within 24 hours). Also, I never had any bloody show until I was well into labor, so it doesn't really mean anything. Good luck and happy pushing!
