TTC 8 months/Anovulation

I have been charting my cycles for 8 months and still no ovulation. My cycles have only been 14-18 days long with only light periods or spotting. I am just over 300 lbs and trying to loss weight to see if that helps because when ever I get over 280 lbs my periods are all whacked out.

I haven't had a normal cycle since I went on depo in April '10. I only took it once and i was 260 lbs and after only 6 months got up to 330 Lbs.

I believe most of my problem is estrogen dominance so I was going to try progesterone cream and weight loss.

Also my mother just recently at 50 had a hysterectomy because of uterine fibroids. My grandmother had one and my aunt is about to have a hysterectomy for the same reason.

They are all overweight too.

I don't know if it's because of estrogen dominance that we are overweight or being overweight causes it. I don't seem to have a problem losing weight. It's just a matter of me trying.

Hi Sam88, I am around 205 lbs and only have been able to drop about 8 lbs in the last few months (5) even with significant dietary changes and exercise. My gyno says I have PCOS, which makes losing weight extremely difficult. I have been ttc for the last 7 months, and haven't been able to spot ovulation. I got +(smiley) OPKs in the last couple of cycles, but my AF day and ovulation day doesn't add up. So, my doc says, I might not be having a "good" O (still don't know what that means).

Sorry, guess I spent too much time venting out... apparently losing 10% of your body weight will significantly normalize the hormones...insulin and all. Also, check out with you doc if you have PCOS or if you are insulin resistant. They might want to put you on Metformin (my gyno wants me to but I am going to wait a couple of cycles) and that will help you lose weight and get the cycles more regular. Or thats what I hear.

Don't know if I have been of much help...

I wish I could see a doctor but I don't have insurance or the money. I was afraid I might have PCOS but I don't think so. I'm losing weight easily and my blood sugar is perfect.

Thank you WantBabyDust. And lots of babydust.  wink1.gif

Lol. Yeah what does not having a good O mean. Either you have one or you don't. Maybe the doc means your body gets the eggs ready to go but doesn't release one.

Hi Sam88, you are in the right path! Everyone I have talked to...docs to people in forums corroborates that losing some weight ... even 20 lbs is going to help with the cycles and ovulation. Glad to hear that you don't have PCOS or insulin resistant. Focus on losing weight for a couple of cycles and maybe you can post a thread regarding how to induce ovulation. I see a lot of women trying Soy Isoflaves (which are natural Clomid), Vitex, etc. They might be able to help you with short cycles...I am still trying to collect information about them from other threads :) Good luck! Baby dust to you too!!
