If you use daycare, have you changed your vax plan?

Just reaching out to any other parents who have been-there-done-that.

I'm due any day now with my first baby and have been doing lots of research on what my vax plan will be. Right now I'm planning on a delayed schedule, and excluding a few specific vaxes.  However, I'm still not positive which I will exclude... some are obvious to me and some are still questionable.

In almost everything I read about vax decisions, I understand that not breastfeeding and using daycare increase your child's susceptibility of contracting these illnesses. Well, I plan on exclusive bf-ing and using pumped milk long term, but unfortunately I will have to go back to work and put my baby in some kind of daycare situation when he/she is about 5-6 months old.  I think if my child weren't going into a daycare setting, I would follow a schedule pretty close to Dr. Sears's Alternate Vax Schedule. But since daycare is in our future, I'm trying to consider what I will choose.

I would love to hear what other parents have done in similar situations. Thank so much for reading!

just being in daycare alone can escalate your childs chances of catching many many things, but not the  VPD's you are trying to prevent thru vaxing.  Its been my experience that a vaxed child in daycare is ill quite often. (i used to work in one)  and nonvaxed kids can get sick just as much in daycare, but their illnesses seemed to subside more quickly.  I also noticed nonvaxing parents tended to keep their children out of daycare when they were ill too. Not so much for vaxing parents..(exclusive to where i was working)..

I followed a selective/delayed vax schedule and my kids were in daycare. The issue is what paper work do you have to submit to the daycare provider (if it is a center). Since they are private they do not legally have to allow you to claim exemptions. When my oldest, who is 8, was young the form required only had to be a current (not expired) certificate. They did not determine which ones she had and was that the state regulations (ie like the do in Elementary school).  My doctor and I agreed on our long term plan and did not have a problem providing/signing the form. However she did set the same expiration dates as a normal vax child would have since we still kept a normal well baby visit schedule. You just need to find a ped who will work with you on a selective delayed vax schedule.

Dd was in the child care room at the gym, the play centers at the mall, mommy and me classes, and countless play dates very early in life. Not the same as daily daycare, but we were a very busy family and she was probably exposed to more germs that way than seeing the same couple of kids every day. She almost 4 and has never had a vax.

ETA: Ds is along for the ride everywhere dd goes and he is also vax-free. He is 13 months.
