Why is one of my tomatoes not growing tomatoes? and other garden problems.

This is my first year trying to grow a garden.  I bought three tomato plants from the local college's horticulture department.  Two are normal size tomato plants and one grows small grape or cherry tomatoes.  They are all planted pretty close to each other.  One of the normal plants and the grape/cherry tomato plant are flowering and then growing tomatoes, but the other one that is suppose to produce the normal size tomatoes gets flowers, the flowers dry up and nothing else happens.  This has been going on that I have noticed for about 2 weeks now.  Is there something I can do to get tomatoes to grow on it this year?  Is there something I can do to prevent having a similar thing happen in the future?

Problem 2-  I have a pumpkin plant and the guy at the store said that I did not need two of them to make pumpkins, that so long as there were more then 1 flower at a time the bees would do their thing and I would get pumpkins.  Well I have seen about 10-12 blossoms on the plant and none of them are growing into pumpkins, so was the guy wrong and I should have bought two or is my garden just defective.

TIA

This is the time of the summer that you will have blossom drop on your tomatoes because of the heat.  You may have to wait for it to cool some before it starts setting fruit.

The first few blooms on squash usually are all male, so you may have to wait on those too or try to hand pollinate them.

Ok thank you.  It just seemed really weird that two of the tomato plants are producing and the one is not. I will try to learn patience.

You can try blossom set spray for the tomatoes.  It's not very organic (I don't think), but it does work nicely.
