Hip pain anyone?

I dont remember this with my last pregnancy, but this time I have pain inside my hips a lot!  Mainly at the end of the day after my daily walk and then the rest of the night and when I wake up in the morning(I think I feel it in the morning because I sleep on my side, putting pressure on my hips, and DD usually sleeps with her head on me somehow so I dont want to move/readjust my position when my hips feel uncomfortable so as not to wake her.  I think if I switched positions often they wouldnt hurt in the mornings?)

Stretching after my walk does help but the pain is still there when I bend at the hips at all.

Anyone else have this?  I am sure it is normal?, but does anyone have any experience with it?  My pain is not too severe BTW(but certainly noticable and annoying!) so I dont think it is anything serious other than just the fact that I'm 28 weeks pregnant!

This is our first baby so I am new to this forum. :) I have been having bad hip pain too, and I am 27 weeks pregnant. Thankfully not when I walk yet, since we walk everywhere!!! But I have noticed it when I sleep. Not even sleeping with a body pillow is helping. It was really bad in both hips 2 nights ago, I barely had any sleep - I was tossing and turning a lot. It usually gets better if I get up and walk to the washroom and back, during the night ... I woke up this morning after sleeping a few hours on the same side and it hurt, but pretty much dissapeared right after I got up...

If you can, I'd try getting adjusted by a chiropractor. Sometimes things get out of whack when you're pregnant and compensating for the change in balance. I swear by mine when I'm big and pregnant.

This happened to me last time, and it's starting to happen this time, too (and I'm only 18 weeks), and I'm having PSD in the front, too. I go to a chiropractor, and I think that helps with this and back aches, but I think for me part of the problem is that the ligaments are loosening up and I don't generally like sleeping on my side so I'm not used to it.

I ended up sleeping in a recliner for the last couple of months last time.

This is my first pregnancy and I think I've been having mild to moderate hip pain since about week 21. I'm almost 26 weeks along. It wakes me up a lot and it will define how much sleep I can get in one hit. If it's not the hips, the bladder wakes me. I have tried sleeping with a pillow between my legs (it's just a regular pillow). It doesn't really make a difference except to make me feel like I have one more creature comfort. No matter what side I lie on, I will ache. And then it will be both sides at once. Who woulda thunk it? I thought my hips were wide enough! I tried walking to alleviate the pain, but it didn't make a difference.

If you can find a firm body pillow, that may help at night. The fluffy kind that seems to be everywhere won't provide much support, though. I hope this eases up for you ladies.

Oh thats an excellent idea, why did I not think of that lol!  I really need to be doing my prenatal yoga, I have Shiva Reas DVD which I love and it makes me feel great, but finding the time to do it is nearly impossible for me:(  I feel fortunate that I am able to walk for 30 min every day, I can do that with DD because she likes her stroller, but she will not behave long enough for me to do 30 min of yoga, and I can not relax with her running around destroying things and wanting to be held!  Ah!  Anyway, I am a lot more active throughout the day with this pregnancy (whereas last time I was not chasing an 18month old all day, I just went on a daily walk, and that was only sometimes!) so I figure that is where the difference comes in, as well as the fact that I carry almost 25lb DD a lot!

I have never actually been to a chiropractor, but DH has one he goes to occasionally, I will call them tomorrow!

Thanks everyone, and those of you who have not tried prenatal yoga, see if that helps you, it does help me some(obviously I need to take my own advice here and do it more often!!), Shiva Rea has some good stretches for the hips

It's totally normal.  I didn't have it much with my first pregnancy, with #2 it started around 25w and with #3 it started around 14w!   Regular chiro visits REALLY help my lower back and hips feel better.  If you can afford to go, it's totally worth it!

Thanks for the tip! Is that just called "Prenatal Yoga"? If so, it looks like my library has it!  I'll check it out... I don't know if I'll be good at doing it regularly, either, but it would be good to try!

This is the DVD that I have (the prenatal only, not the postnatal) http://www.amazon.com/PreNatal-Yoga-PostNatal-Pack-Shiva/dp/B000QUZDA6/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1313299124&sr=8-10

I see that it now looks like this, I am not sure if it is the same video in a diff package, if it has been updated, or what, but I imagine it is similar if not the same:)   http://www.amazon.com/Prenatal-Yoga-Shiva-Rea/dp/B0000BYNMH/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313299076&sr=8-1

Thanks! I went to the library yesterday to pick it up and it looks like the one you have, the one on the left in the first link. I'll try it!

Netflix has a prenatal yoga video that you can stream. It isn't bad.
