Contractions!

I had started a different thread, but this is kind of unrelated and I'm hoping if I start a new thread someone will see it even though it's pretty late! Anyways I took castor oil earlier today (2 and 5) and was stimulating my nipples and I was having regular contractions every 15 mins. Then they went away for several hours and I was real disappointed. I felt fine, I didn't think the castor oil was doing anything I was just watching a movie. Then at like 11 my stomach started feeling reallly upset and I got horrible diarrhea. I took a bath and my stomach settled down but for the last like 2 hours I've been having contractions about 4-6 mins apart and they're getting pretty strong! If I go to sleep will they peter out or do you guys think this is the real deal and I'll be fine. This is the closest they've ever been together. I just feel like I should stay up and try to keep them going b/c if they went away again I'd be so mad!

Can you try laying down but not sleeping for a bit? Maybe just to try seeing if position affects them at all? If you weren't under the time constraints to get the ball moving, I would tell you to rest. But I'd hate to see them go away. Maybe just laying down for a short bit to see if there's any affect. If they stay consistent while you're resting, but not sleeping, then I would think it would be fine to go to bed.

Okay. I'll try that. Like you said, if I wasn't "on the clock" I'd probably just go to sleep but this might be my last chance! I am not drinking that stuff again. Wish me luck! I realllly hope this is real.

Aw, good luck mama! And keep us posted if you can. I hope you're able to get some rest and still have contractions!!

FWIW, the fact that your body is having contractions so close together is a good sign for a first time mama. I know that induction is not at all what you want (and for very good reasons), but if your body is responding so well to methods like nipple stim and castor oil, then it also seems like you would respond quickly to hospital methods. I'm not a fan of the position your hospital is putting you in, but knowing that your body is responding so well makes me think that less intervention would be necessary, even if you do end up going the hospital induction route.

I'm still contracting about the same. (4-6 mins) but they got more intense and painful when I tired to lay down so no sleep for me. I called the hospital to let them know and they told me to come in when I couldn't talk through them. I'm so excited! Unless this somehow stalls I'm having a baby today! :)
