Scorched houseplant - will it recover?

This is my FAVOURITE plant, I've had it for over 10 years. A couple of days ago I decided to put it outside in the sun, as we are finally getting some nice weather here (about 22 celsius so 72 fahrenheit).

I thought it would like the sun, I used to have it in a south facing window and it was very healthy... but I guess I was wrong greensad.gif

It is a succulent, but I have no idea what it's called, I've never seen another one. Here are the photos of the damage:

As you can see, some parts have turned white and others have turned black.

I'm just wondering, will they recover, or do I need to pull those pieces out and throw them away? Each little section is rooted individually, but there won't be much left if I pull all the damaged pieces.

oh!  that's such a pretty plant.  it must have taken a long time to grow out that way.  :(

and hugs to you, i know you've really had lots on your mind.  what another bad thing on top of everything else.

if it were me, i would take some of the green parts i see underneath and try to root them separately into another pot.  the rest i would leave as is, making sure to resist the temptation to over water it to compensate.  leave that part and see what happens.  if the roots are separate, it won't hurt it much to leave them hanging on even if they do eventually wither.  i think watching to see if they really wither would be my indication to prune.

having taken some of the long green ones and rooted them, you should still save some of the plant that way regardless.  :(  sorry about your plant.

I'm so sorry about your plant, but at least there are some still alive parts which is always something.

I think you should wait for a month and see if there are any signs of recovery with tender care. Since it is a succulent, there is a chance if minimal. I for example hat a pot of aloe vera, that had been forgotten behind a curtain for a whole year, come to life again with a bit of tender care. If your plant does not...then there's very little to do but to remove the damaged/dead parts and be grateful that at least some of it is still alive.
