room temp and dressing your baby at night

Every night I wonder whether my baby is too cold (or hot?)! What do you dress your baby in? What is the room temperature?

Since DS kicks off all blankets, he is usually just in pjs. We use one layer, long sleeved and long-pants. No socks. Temperature is currently 75 degrees (according to a/c thermostat). I lay next to him much of the night, and use a light comforter (feel a bit cold without it) but am wearing shorts and short-sleeves. I always cover him a bit, but it doesn't last long.

I read somewhere that babies sleep best in 68 degrees and 6 layers of cotton (equivalent in blankets, etc.). Anyone try to do this? Does it work? I kindof want to invest in a merino wool sleep sack, and give it a try, but they are expensive ($100) and I don't know if he'll go for it. The fleece sleepsacks made him sweat in the wintertime when I tried them (though he did have a couple of good sleeps with them).

Any thoughts?

we cosleep. i dress my 2 week old in either a long sleeved sleep gown or t-shirt and wool sleep sack. plus we all have a sheet and blanket covering us. i turn the AC down to 71 and turn on my ceiling fan when we got to bed and i wear pjs with 3/4 sleeves. i wake at various times sometimes sweating and other times freezing. my babe always seems warm. i'm paranoid about my kids being cold, though, because i can't stand being the slightest bit cold. i would much rather be too warm.

My guy sleeps on his own at night and wears a long sleeve onesie and a cotton sleep sack.  When we co-sleep for naps he wears shorts and short sleeves and I sometimes pull just a light sheet over us.  We keep the a/c set to 72 degrees.

Eli is almost 8 months. He sleeps in his crib next to my side of the bed. We keep the temp at about 71 at night, and he will not sleep unless he's in a full footie with long sleeves.

I obsess about this too! I'm always jumping out of bed at night to fiddle with the thermostat. We keep the AC around 72 degrees. DD is 16 weeks and sleeps in a crib in our room. Until recently she slept in a onesie and a cotton swaddle, sometimes with her arms out. If her arms were out I would put her in a long sleeved onesie. Recently we ditched the swaddle and I've been putting her in long sleeved footie pajamas. I worry sometimes about her being a bit cold but I'm usually comfortable in just my tank top with a sheet and/or light blanket, so I figure her pjs are about equivalent. She sleeps fine--last night she did almost a 9 hour stretch!

My ten month old sleeps in a Peke Moe http://www.pekemoe.co.nz/ and we love it. It's like the perfect combo of a light blanket and PJs and since it's always 72 F or so here, it is totally easy. You can get winter weight ones too, I think.

This is us, exactly.
