army blankets for a wool mattress cover?

I did a search and read some threads, but still have some questions.

We're buying a family bed, our first king size, so we can fit both DS (1 yr) and DSD (13).  We currently have a full and a very nice waterproof cover on it.  But that very nice cover does still make me and DS sweat buckets.  Can't afford the very nice wool covers, so I've been reading about using army blankets.  DS very rarely has a diaper leak (I've just jinxed myself) but sometimes has "nursing leaks" lol the occasional spit up, and my sweating (even without the waterproof cover, ahh, aging, so fun).  Here are my questions:

Do I buy several and cut/sew them into a king size?  How would the seam work?

Do I need to felt and lanolize?

If I felt it, it will shrink and I will need more blankets than I thought...  How much shrinkage?

Um.  I think that's it for now biggrinbounce.gif  Thanks!

I think they are already felted. I bought some and cut them to pillowcase size..stuffed in a case it went under my chest and dds diaper area. It worked well...I heard that you could get a fitted sheet and sew the wool on top of it...
Someone recently told me not to use the army wool BC its full of chemicals but I can't find any info one way it the other. ???
