My re-introduction!

Hi ladies!

I was a regular here for a while when recovering from DD's birth (2/09)--knowing I wanted more children, you all were more of a comfort than any.  So now I'm back on the pg side, due the first week of April and planning a VBAC.  thumb.gif  I wanted to say hi, since I'm sure I'll be around a lot in the next 9 months.

My DD's section was necessary and relatively peaceful--it was the 3 week nicu stay thereafter that was traumatic.  So I believe I'm a good VBAC candidate, and DH and I both believe my body can do this. First, I have to find a care provider.  For a couple of reasons relating to DD's birth, I'm not comfortable with an HBAC, so the choices are: 1) military hospital with CNMs or 2) changing my insurance (will be more expensive) and finding a civilian provider/other hospital.

From what I know so far, the military hospital is about equal to the civilian hospital in terms of VBACing, but I'm concerned about prenatal care--worried that I'll spend my entire pregnancy fighting over the little things.  The only published stats I can find show that the military hospital had a 40% vbac rate as of 2000.  I think that means 40% of vbac attempts are successful?  Doesn't sound great.

Anyone have any thoughts?  In case anyone is nearby, I'd be looking for a provider in/around Newport News, VA.

Can't wait to get to know everyone!

ETA: the 2 hospitals I'm considering are Langley AFB in Hampton and Mary Immaculate Hosp. in Newport News.
