Looking for rec's for pediatrician/family practice. Need advice!

Hello! Looking for some advice on pediatricians/family practice in the MD/DC/VA metro area.

We just moved to the Silver Spring area from a very liberal west coast city. I've been having a real rough time finding a pediatrician that even remotely fits the bill. Looking for someone (either MD, OD, Naturopathic, or even a Family Nurse Practitioner) that is supportive/encouraging of: breastfeeding, alternative vaccination schedules, integrative/wholistic approach, basically just an alternative to the standard medical practices that are going to find a million things wrong with my kiddos. I want to feel involved in my children's healthcare and feel like our care provider respects and understands our lifestyle.

Can anyone recommend someone to me via PM? I would be oh so grateful. We have insurance that we would ideally like to use (BCBS) and would be willing to travel up to 20 miles from the Silver Spring area for the right practice. I haven't had much luck researching pediatricians/family practice clinics online and peer-to-peer recommendations would be very valuable.

We just moved to Silver Spring as well and would love a ped rec for all the same reasons! It would be great if they took our insurance...I think we have United now, guess I should check on that

Also, if anyone have a rec for a well-woman exam, I'd really appreciate it too. Thanks!

Good Morning-

I saw your email thread and I was hoping you can assist me as other have you. I am expecting my first in late Feb/early March and I've been trying to find a great pediatrician/nurse practitioner in the silver spring, Kensignton, Rockville area and I would love the recommendations you received.  Can you share????  I prefer a small practice, but I will take all recommendations......a lactation consultant on site would be great, I did find on in Kensignton, but they dont accept our insurance.

I'm looking for this same info! Peds, gyn, and gp. Preferably in Silver Spring, but so far I haven't found ANYONE! So I am willing to travel if necessary! Please send me recs too! I've been to too many doctors trying to find one that fits the bill and we haven't lived here long enough to find a like minded soul t ask!

My OB/GYN just moved from Kailua to Silver Spring, MD so you all are in luck! My family (me, DH, two girls 5 and 7, and our new baby boy, 4 weeks) are moving to DC area in a month or so for DH's new job and we need all the same recommendations, if anyone is interesting in PM'ing me. Peds or family practice docs for the kids, OBGYN or NP's for myself, kid-friendly dentists, and family practice/general med docs for myself and DH.

I would be SOOO appreciative of any tips here esp. as I've vaxed selectively and with my newborn I'm nervous about finding a more "open" doc for the kiddos. Thanks for any info!

Hi, can you all share if you got good recommendations? I'm in the EXACT same boat, in SS needing a good pedi for my 1-year-old son! He is intact and I want a pediatrician who is knowledgeable about intact boys (i.e. no forcible retraction!) Thanks~!
