Mennonite mamas: your favorite books on spiritual life/theology?

Thread Starter

there is plenty of info online about "what Mennonites believe"--but I strongly prefer having a book in hand.  I'm looking for a mix of scholarly and devotional works to give me an overview of the faith and practice of Mennonites.  books that touch on both the historical and contemporary would be great.  Bible studies, prayer, living one's faith in daily life, and peacemaking are of interest.

thanks for any suggestions!

Hmmm.... I am thinking of books to recommend, at least from a general, traditional anabaptist perspective....

Maybe you live close enough to a Mennonite library or bookstore you could go to.

You could also order a catalog from Rod & Staff and see their books.

Here are some books I have liked, personally:

-On the Back Road to Heaven by Donald Craybill

-The Martyr's Mirror (a huge book- but very worth it for the parts you do read)

Here it is free online:  http://www.homecomers.org/mirror/index.htm

-The Kingdom the Turned the World Upside Down by David Bercot

-The Faith Worth Dying For (a tiny booklet, maybe $1.50, sold by Rod and Staff, and also available free online)

Hope that helps somewhat.
