I felt around to see what there was to see, but couldn't really tell.  I was near transition.  When time came to push there was no doubt it was time and checking wasn't necessary.

 

BTW, our doula friend was there and she was elated to be a part of a birth that just followed the natural progression without monitors and checks.  She usually attends hospital inductions so our birth was refreshing.

This is what I checked for as well.Don't want to push before I was ready.

It wasn't a UC, but I didn't check dilation at all with my second birth (and only once with my first), I seriously doubt I will want to this time around.  It seems really distracting to me.
