Acupuncturist recommendation?

My midwife suggested I try an acupuncturist as it could help stave off gestational diabetes, which I had with my first pregnancy.

I'm also having pretty bad headaches with this one, and since I can't take excedrin, thinking maybe acupuncture would help that too.

Any recommendations in the Bethesda area?

You should check out directory of alternative and complimentary care providers on the Birth Options Alliance page. I think the care providers listed specialize in prenatal acupuncture. Good look!

I don't know of any acupuncturists in Bethesda, but any graduate of Tai Sophia is probably very good.  They have a directory of graduates that you can search by area.

I can recommend Neighborhood Acupuncture in Laurel, MD which does community (inexpensive) acupuncture on a sliding scale.

As an acupuncturist who specializes in fertility and pregnancy care, I just want to point out the importance of finding a qualified doctor.  If you're looking for care during pregnancy, definitely find a practitioner who has training and experience with pregnancy!  Not all acupuncturists are the same - there are many levels of expertise, and pregnancy is one area where special knowledge is needed for safe treatment.

I wish I could recommend a practitioner, but I don't know anyone in Bethesda.  If you're willing to travel to DC, I could suggest someone - and, of course I'd be happy to see you myself.

Good Luck!

Jennifer

Surjanamama - I'm pretty close to the DC border (just a bit up River Rd), so please, recommendations and would love to hear about your practice!

surjanamama, I'd like to know about your practice too if you specialize in pregnancy/postpartum care. PM me? Thanks! <3
