Trying to Conceive #2 - Page 31

RainGardenMama that's great news that your husband is ready to TTC!

Jessicarenee, what kind of OPK are you using? I went two months without seeing a positive. I finally saw one this month but double dipped with the brand I was using last month and that one was not positive, so if I hadn't changed brand, I never would have seen it. And I POAS-ed like 6 times a day! I did get a good build up, and the day before was perilously close to a positive. Any build up for you? Also, totally not sure if this is right or not, but I just read this really long article on LPD, and it had a graph of LH tested every 20 minutes ( I think ) over 12 hours or so and there were real waves. I think it can be really easy to miss for some women (especially for those of us who drink a lot of water and coffee throughout the day). It's SUPER frustrating though!

Generic store brand ones for last month and this month but before that I was using these and ran out: http://www.amazon.com/Combo-40-Ovulation-10-Pregnancy/dp/B001FYLNVU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1325470283&sr=8-2 By build up do you mean the line gets darker the closer I get to ovulation? Usually yes but this month it's been about the same every day.

I'm new to this thread. I didn't think I'd be back in TTC but here I am. I have a 5 yr old DD and DS is 2.5. I always said I wanted 3 but DH (who is very practical) always said 2 was his limit since it made more sense for vacationing, vehicles, etc.

I'd sort of resigned myself to the idea that our family is complete and we were done, but DH came to me about a month ago, out of the blue, and said he wanted another. I was shocked because it's not like I ever pressured him about it...he came to this idea on his own. I'm still pretty shocked, to be honest, but also very happy.

Anyway, I stopped taking the pill at the end of November and we got busy this cycle, though I had very little observable cervical fluid. Like clockwork, my period arrived yesterday, right on schedule. Boo! I figured it wouldn't happen the first cycle anyway, but it would've been nice. I had long, irregular cycles when we were first TTC and it took about 7 cycles to get pregnant. I didn't go back on the pill between kids and got pregnant on the first month trying for my second pregnancy, so it'll be interesting to see how things go this time.

I only charted half-heartedly this cycle mostly because DS hasn't been sleeping well since we moved into a new house at the beginning of October. He usually ended up in our bed in the middle of the night. I get up for work at 5:30 am and try to quietly creep out of bed. I was afraid the thermometer beeping would wake him and DH. I've also read that temperatures can be wonky when coming off the pill.

So hi everyone! Looking forward to taking this journey with you. smile.gif

Hi, hibiscus mum!  You give me hope since I want 3 little ones total and DH wants 2.  I keep telling him that I'm going to have an 'open mind' about having a 3rd and that he should too!  :)  I hope January is your month!

Ugh- I'm so frustrated!  Temp has dropped below coverline this morning and I'm only 6 dpo.  I did get up 1.5 hrs earlier than usual today though so hoping that's all it is.  I just really worry about progesterone.... I've had short luteal phases, but my temp during my LP has never been so close to the coverline (or below the coverline!) like it is this cycle.  I am thinking of asking for the Day 21 test tomorrow on 7 dpo.  Or maybe my cycle is still just a little off from my m/c in Nov?  Here's my chart:

I need some insight from you guys please.  I had a chemical pregnancy last month.  Usually my cycles are like clockwork lasting about 30 days.  I typically ovulate around the 14th.  Of course that is going only by CM since I don't chart.  This month it looks like I may have ovulated on CD12 which was Thursday (that is when I had abundant EWCM).

My questions are: DH and I only BD'd Tuesday because he went out of town Wed-Fri.  If I did in fact O on Thursday do you think that we still had a chance to conceive?  Also, we BD'd on Saturday and Sunday. Do you think I could have ovulated on those days even though I did not have EWCM?  I've tried to feel my cervix but it is ridiculously unreachable no matter what position I try. Finally, if my O was early does that mean AF will  be early as well?

Hi Simonsez2u - I am actually in exactly the same place - chemical pregnancy last month, and we're trying this month and I got an early positive from my OPK (no temp rise yet, though, so I'm sort of confused). ANYHOW we can 2WW together with our wacky post-chemical pregnancy cycles!

Because sperm can live in the body up to 72 hours you definitely still have a shot at conception would be my guess. There is also some anecdotal evidence I've been finding that says you might be "extra" fertile after a CP -- woo woo! Was it late on Tuesday (afternoon, evening)?

As for CM - I chart so I don't pay as much attention to that as I should - but I think watery CM is also fertile...? I thought you get EWCM when you are actually ovulating, which would technically be later than you want to aim - right?

Hi HadleyM-Dh and I DTD late Tuesday evening. As for the "extra" fertile theory there may be some truth to that.  My very first conception was a chemical pregnancy.  The next month we tried again and voila DS was conceived!

I am sort of confused about the time of ovulation when EWCM is present.  I've read that you should get busy when it appears because it means ovulation is right around the corner, but how far around the corner?  Minutes? Hours? Days?  I dunno.  I've had success with conceiving both of my babies just DTD every other day as much as possible specifically around mid cycle.  It's worked for us in the past but DH leaving and O coming early may have thrown a wrench in things this cycle.  Who knows I guess we will see.  Here is hoping that our 2WW ends in a BFP that sticks!!!

Hi Hibiscus Mum- Welcome!

MamaForever-The day 21 test will measure your progesterone? I think that sounds like a great idea.

SimonSez, I think it's definitely possible that you could have conceived.

SimonSez and HadleyMonroe- I too am confused about when ovulation occurs after the presence of EWCM. I've just started temping and hope that will help me to figure it out, I'll try to pay attention to my CM as well. I am only on CD3, but am extremely excited!!!

Hi Everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful new year.  I am on CD32, 11 DPO.  I am pretty calm considering this has been such a wacky month.  My temp is still up, but I typically have a 14 day LP and temp doesn't drop until the day of AF.  So, I still think that it would be a Christmas miracle if I conceive after this silly cycle, but maybe it is better for me to feel this way because it is making me more laid back.  I have an appointment with my homeopath on Wednesday.  I may test that morning, but I am going to try to hold off for another week or so just because this cycle was crazy and I only have one test.

Do any of you know of "The Secret" - basically the power of positive thinking.  Anyways, my hubby and I have a vision board in our bedroom.  It is amazing that almost everything that we put on there actually happens!  I just added two items to it last week:  "Family of 4 (or 5 :)) " and 2012 baby - hopefully our vision boards track record perseveres!

FINALLY!!! Not quite a positive OPK, but almost there. It's just a touch lighter than the test line. Jeez!

I know what your saying. I have the same thing. My line never gets as dark as the test line maybe in spots of the line but not the entire line. It also was lighter today but so was the control line. SO who the heck knows. I know I need to track temp and stay on track. But with such a weird  cycle last I was all messed up so the tests seemed like the way to go until after I speak to the doc. My appt was moved to next Tues instead of today. Which is fine since today was the coldest day so far. But  next week will be too early to tell if I am prego and too early to tell if I am not even with blood test I think. lol

Hi everyone - I'm new to this group...first month TTC!  It is actually the very first time.  My DS is 3 and was a surprise.  I am 38 and yet have essentially no idea how to do this - a baby-making late bloomer, I guess.  Well, I know how babies are made, but not how to actually plan it.  We only had one opportunity to try this cycle though because I am sick.  Probably not my month but I am already getting anxious about the wait!  I'll be checking in to learn from you all.  I also have been wondering about timing associated with EWCM so I'll be really curious for more info about that.

Ava's Mama - I love the concept of The Secret.  It seems to work for me too.  I can't get my husband on board with it - so frustrating!  I love your vision board idea.

JenD, here's a video about charting your cycle. On her website, she has a link to a 1-hour seminar on preparing to get pregnant and she goes over everything from diet to detoxifying to charting. http://www.youtube.com/user/stillwaterfertility/videos

Hey! I have not been on in a while. Happy Holidays!! Hope everyone had a great time.

I got an awesome gift for the holidays my period LOL! I have not had it in 7 months and it finally came back. Needless to say I'm over the moon. I can't wait to start trying for a baby now.

*fingers crossed*

Oh! I also lost just over 7 lbs now, so.. I'm also thrilled about that

simonsez-  Yes, BDing a couple days before O may be just fine!  Sperm can live in your uterine tract for up to 5 days.  And yes, if you O'd early, then AF would be early as well because your luteal phase usually stays about the same.

hadley, raingarden, jend and simonsez-  Each woman is different with when EWCM appears (if it does at all) and when O happens.  I personally get EWCM starting about 3-4 days before O and lasting until the day after O.  It's a major sign that you are fertile and it's time to get busy! :)  The days when I get the most EWCM is usually the two days before O.  I read online once that the days you see the most EWCM are your "most fertile" days.  Charting will help determine O because you can use your temp shift and also the presence of EWCM to determine when O day happens for you.

Ava'sMama-  Sounds like you are ahead of all the rest of us this cycle and I hope to hear exciting news from you in a few days!  I'm glad you are feeling more relaxed about it this time around.

heathyhanna-  Congrats on losing 7 lbs and for AF coming!  I am excited for you and I hope you conceive very soon!

AFM, fertilityfriend moved my O date to CD 13 now (it was CD 14 - and it also lowered my coverline) so I guess I'm only a couple hours away from being 9 dpo.  This is the 3rd time it's moved my O date this cycle.  I was happy this morning to find my temp went back up!  So I'm really hoping that it stays up.  During the night last night I was always so hot (very strange for me - I'm normally cold) and I even had one terrible hot flash in the middle of the night.  Tonight I've felt very noticeable twinges on my low abdomen on the left side.  I really don't think they are pg symptoms though because that would be only 8 dpo.  I've never had symptoms this early before and I really don't want to get my hopes up, so I've convinced myself that's it's nothing!

Nevermind, FF moved my O date back to CD 14 this morning.  Lol!  I think it's pretty confused.
