Lactation Consultant in Houston area (preferably The Woodlands)

I'm posting this for my sister who is having such a hard time with her LO's shallow latch. Can anyone recommend a LC in the Houston area, preferably near, but not limited to, The Woodlands? She has seen Sherri at MHTW, but her only advice is to keep using a nipple shield and she seems resistant to helping correct the latch.

She called A Woman's Work in Greenway Plaza but the cost is $250 for an appointment, and that seems pretty crazy, but please correct me if I'm wrong (here in Boston, the LC I saw with my son was only $150 an hour).

Any recommendations would be so appreciated. I'm so proud of my sis for going through all that she has so far and I want her to be successful. She is going back to work in a few weeks, too, so that isn't going to help.

Thank you!

Connie Blokkum is an IBCLC and works out of the Katy Birth Center in Katy.  I don't know how much she charges but I do know when a friend of mine called her for advice she spent tons of time with her on the phone over several calls and never charged a dime.  I have met Connie and she is a really nice lady.

NAK

If she can make it to Kingwood, send her to Suzanne Juel! She is incredible and will work with her to improve latch. Here is contact info:

She also hosts mommy support meetings on Tues., Weds, & Fridays at 9:00am and Saturdays at 10:30. These are very casual come and go events, and the group leaders (and other moms at the meetings) are there to offer support with breastfeeding.  These meetings are wonderful! They are scheduled to last 2 hours, but most people hang around longer than that.

Thanks for these suggestions! I will pass them along to my sister. Any others are welcome, too!

This may be way too late, but here is the information for a friend of mine, and she lives right next to The Woodlands:

"I am now doing home visits; providing breastfeeding assistance specializing in latch issues, low milk supply, pumping, oral motor dysfunction and breast refusal.

Breastfeeding: if at first you don't succeed...latch, latch again!!

I don't know why it cut off her email address? I hope this helps.
