My son is now 20 months old and still nursing. He is mostly weaned for daytime, sometimes when he gets bored he asks for it, which I try to distract away from. But he still nurses to sleep for his nap and for bedtime. (We bedshare with him) I don't mind him nursing to sleep because it is quite easy for me (no bouncing or rocking) and it's a nice way to relax after a busy day. But when he turns 2 I am planning on weaning him off altogether. Husband and I both agree it's time.

So what I'm looking for is some experience from other Mama's. Has anyone done slow weaning over a span of 4 months? Does it even work? Or is it best to just drastically do it when he turns 2? I tried night weaning when he was around 14 months old because I was told by a dentist that his cavities were from night nursing. I did research and found out it's not, but that's a whole different story. So the night weaning never stuck, I quit after a week because it was too hard on him and me. But this time I think it will be better because he can understand a bit more, but I am preparing for the worst.

I was thinking I would start by trying to get him to nap without it, then after a month or so, start eliminating the night nursings one by one. (before bed being last)

Any kind advice?
