Anyone Else Diabetic and Wanting to Have a Homebirth?

So I think my endo might be trying to nix my homebirth.  I'm type 2 and on a pump.  Anyone else hear diabetic and trying to have a homebirth?

I have gestational diabetes & that was enough to prevent it. With the midwives here it is an automatic that you are risked out of a homebirth with diabetes of any kind - the endo has nothing to do with it. What does your midwife say?

What are the risks?  I'm just starting the whole gd rigamarole, but I'm still planning to have a homebirth.  My mw is down with it.

Well, its a matter of my endo wanting me to have an IV so that I can get a shot of dextrose if I need it, if my bg goes low.  I talked her into it.  The only thing is my endo trusts me to know what to do, but because I will be in laborland, I'm incapacitated to make decisions I need to while I'm in labor.  I have my MIL ready to take my bg every hour or more often if needed.

I hate hospitals and had gd at the end of my last pregnancy, but just did diet and everything was fine, this time, I'm type 2 with a pump.  Before this pregnancy I didnt' need insulin, just diet and exercise, but now I'm up to 70units of insulin a day, becuase of pregnancy.
